How US-controlled media embrace Nazism

Why did El Pais lie that “Communists and Nazis are alike” and “fight together” in Eastern Ukraine

As NATO powers stock more weaponry, troops and bases to encircle Russia, and thus confirm that they absorbed the countries in Eastern Europe for the same reasons Hitler allied with them in the second world war – that is, to attack Russia – Western mainstream media (read, state&corporate-controlled media) had reached a new level of propaganda, embracing the Nazism in Ukraine and even urging western governments to follow the same totalitarian measures which the fascist government in Kyiv has been enforcing over the past year. (1)

One of the most revealing episodes of western propaganda against Donbass came with the news that eight Communists from Spain were arrested as political reprisals, because they fought against Kyiv’ lebensraum war waged against the population in east Ukraine.

Government of Ukraine waging war against the population in the east of the country to “purify the nation” which in western media is reported as “defending the homeland”.

Unlike the Spanish Nazis who slaughtered civilians in east Ukraine, fighting on the side of Kyiv, these Communists were arrested by the Spanish government, when they returned home, for opposing Kyiv and apparently for “breaking the country’s neutrality”.
Hypocrisy aside, even more shocking than that was a statement, attributed to those arrested and which was widely circulated by western propagandists, that these “Communists fought alongside Nazis” because they are both “alike”.

This statement was published by El Pais, the day the Spanish communists returned home and while they were under police arrest:
Half of them are Communists and the other half are Nazis. We fought together, Communists and Nazis alike … We all want the same: social justice and the liberation of Russia (my note: Donbass) from the Ukrainian invasion.”

El Pais claimed that these were the words of the Communists, who told them so in an interview, which did not happen. This statement is simply a fabrication and a lie. The Spanish newspaper never interviewed the Communists. They printed the words they attributed to them while the Communists were still under police arrest.

This report was fabricated (2) using an old interview with the Spanish Communists, and distorted in such a way that it claimed exactly the opposite of what the Communists said in that interview, the only one they ever gave.

Pretty shocking to hear that Communists joined hands with Nazis, isn’t it? In fact, isn’t this exactly what the West has been doing all along – not the “commie” part, but the “joining hands with Nazis” one? Yup (3). See, the Nazis are not so bad after all, since even Communists could side with them “for a common cause” (this is even more shocking than the “joining hands” part).
This is supposed to induce that these Nazis are not so bad after all, for the West, who did join hands with them, ideologically, too. It reinforces post WWII and Cold War narrative, according to which it was not West’s fault that they “had to” fight the Soviets in the Cold War and doing so they “had to” ally with Nazis. Never mind, that before World War II, they helped and supported Nazis and fascists all over Eastern Europe, and, in particular, in Ukraine.
10869672_980275375322569_6112703413569955722_oNever mind that, after the February 2014 coup, the fascist government of Ukraine sett up “a ministry of truth” to dictate what the public in Ukraine must be told; journalists have been bombed, attacked, tortured, arrested, hunted and assassinated; there is a law that puts people in jail if they say the government wages civil war against eastern Ukraine, and commands all media and all people of Ukraine to speak instead of “Russian aggression”, which they never proved. Never mind you see all these transplanted to Europe, where Brussels-based journalists demand that EU officially set up their own “ministry of truth” to “counter-attack” “Russian propaganda”, that is to support whatever NATO claims without expressing the slightest doubt about it. This is already happening, but they want it to be the official policy of EU. During the entire Ukrainian crisis, and even before that, western media have constantly covered up the crimes of the Nazis, downplayed their influence and power, even denied they were Nazis (liberals in US even called the Nazis’ propaganda site,, a “leftist site“), while inventing Nazis in eastern Ukraine, and demonizing the local population.

But the fabrication of lies about the Spanish communists, intentionally, reveals something even more terrific: that, indeed, the ideological agenda of the nazis in Ukraine is not only supported, but also embraced and shared by US-controlled western media, in this particular case, El Pais.

“There are many who do not know they are fascists but will find it out when the time comes.” – Ernest Hemingway

Proof that El Pais invented the statement they attributed to Communists, with whom they never spoke, comes from the timeline of events:

“In fact, it’s impossible that these declarations were obtained that same day. The article in El Pais was published at 17:30 pm (and let us not forget the time they may have needed to interview them, edit the obtained material and publish it on the site; for all this to happen, the combatants should have been set free at 16:30, hours before they police let them go). The news about them being set free started to appear late in the evening, and during the night. Let’s take for example other mass media of Madrid: ABC published the news about their release from police arrest at 22:54, El Diario (the fastest one, as it’s exclusively online news portal) at 21:51. And NONE of them ever mentioned any declarations made by the communists who had been arrested. The spokesman for the “Committee ot the Support Antifascista in Ukraine” in Madrid, Ramiro Gómez, also said they were set free at night. We can see that it was simply impossible for El Pais to fetch these declarations so that they could publish it at 17.30.”

Another proof that they fabricated the statements comes from the fact that the Communists talked to nobody in the media at all before being released from the police arrest. The only footage of them was filmed by the Spanish police themselves, and, if you watch it, you can see there is no media they talk to. (see video of the arrested Communists, filmed by Spanish Police) El Pais fabricated and published the false statements while the Communists were still under police arrest.

1 el pais

Most likely, El Pais selected parts of what the communists had told, months before (in November 2014), to Lur Gil and Ibai Trebiño, for Basque magazines, rewrote and added to them in such a way as to fit the newspaper’s ideological and political agenda. “El País has obtained this information from another source, without naming it. They took it from a personal interview conducted by email with the volunteers by the publication, Diario de Noticias. This was the only interview granted by the communists who fought for Donbass and has been published in Argia and Berria.”

In this interview, Sergio, Hector Miguel and Oriol talked about the Communist ideology among the rebels in Donbass. They said that among the rebels there are some people who had “different ideological backgrounds,” but they never mentioned any Nazis. On the contrary, they repeated over and over again that they were fighting against Ukrainian Nazis who attacked Donbass.

2 el pais

They talked about some people who were “patriots”. Indeed there were some white nationalists from Europe and some nationalists from Russia on the side of the rebels in Donbass. But these men were drawn to Donbass by war, not by the ideals or the struggle of the local population, like the Spanish communists were. (4) They actually said they refused to share their battalion with anyone who was not Communist.
At some point, one of them said: “Those who have a different ideology must reconsider WHY they would be fighting in our group.” What he meant was that there was NO place for Nazis among them. They said that they and the locals were fighting against Nazis, and that they are fighting for the people who live in Donbass, the same way the International Brigades fought for the Spanish people against Franco’s fascists in the 1936-1939 civil war and social revolution. They said that the fight against Nazis was indeed theirs, but that what would happen next, after the war was stopped, would be up to the local population.

The Spanish Communists clearly said they were there to fight the Nazis of Ukraine, supported by NATO and EU. So El Pais simply invented that they had said “Communists and Nazis alike”; it is a sinister lie.

This is what they said in the interview which was used by El Pais to fabricate lies:
That they decided to join the rebel militias in the east after the Odessa massacre committed by the Nazis on May 2, 2014, which was covered up by western media.
“Apart from this, we want to contribute to the creation of a socialist state in Europe, and assist and protect the civilian population from attacks by Kyiv. This is a fight against fascism and we are indebted to the International Brigades who came to Spain in the 1936 to help us fight the fascist coup.”
“We are here to fight fascism. It is the first time in many years that there is real potential to contribute to building a socialist state in Europe. As communists, we could have not missed this historic opportunity.”
“Our primary military objective is not to stop until saving the future state of Novorussia of the fascist scum. They (Kyiv) have provoked this war… The red flag will wave in Europe.”
“The presence of Communists in the popular resistance is very prominent. There are two full units of communist ideology… and there are communists in other units too.”
He says that he passed through more units until he got to the one where all fighters were communists. “The main reason for changing the units was the ideological differences; ideological diversity exists among the militia. These differences have made us feel not comfortable at all. Now (the fall of 2014), however, we are fully satisfied with ourselves and with our new colleagues.”
“The main change compared to other units was in the dismissal of hierarchies. “Here everyone is equal, no commanders.”
“There is great nostalgia for the Soviet Union among volunteers fighting in the militia. Since the collapse of the USSR everything has turned worse and people are aware of it.” He added that Communism is the main ideology within the militia.

They are asked about how “the insignificant minority of ultra-nationalists” among the resistance in East Ukraine has been used by Western “leftists” to excuse and justify the crimes committed by Kyiv and NATO against the civilian population in Donbass.
They responded: “The leftists who justify the killing of civilians by fascists should rethink their ideological position. Some have called us Nazis and we laughed at them. People who have been here are the only ones who can speak knowing what is happening here, the rest is speculation from a distance of 3000 km. I want to make clear (said Sergio) I am more red than the blood that runs through my veins. Nobody is going to change that.”
“The struggle for Novorussia is a fight against fascism, against the oligarchy and is also a national struggle. It is against the fascists of Kiev and against the oligarchy that plundered the post-Soviet Ukraine. In addition, it is also a national struggle, because the people defend their culture, language and communities.”

“On the front, a thousand things go through your head. There is a lot of adrenaline and sometimes you’re afraid you’ll die. Sometimes you wonder why you’re here.” (This shows they are not war maniacs, like the Nazis in Kyiv and Lviv.)
They say that they were not paid, they did not go do Donbass for money: “Unlike the mercenaries who are fighting for Kyiv, supported and financed by NATO and the European Union. They are the guilty ones of what is happening in Ukraine.”
As you can read in the interview, the volunteers do not mention any Nazis, and they do not say that they were fighting with any Nazis. They only say that they shared the brigade with “nationalist” or “orthodox”. This was not mentioned by El País,” because it would have exposed their fabrications,” said the person who took their interview by email.

El Pais simply put words in their mouths, when they said that, among the rebels in east Ukraine, “50% were communists and 50% were Nazis”. In the interview El Pais used to fabricate their propaganda, nobody ever said such a thing; on the contrary. “50% Communists – 50% Nazis” was something El Pais simply made upEl Pais twisted their words to fit existent perceptions in the West, and this should worry the leftists in the West, just as much the Nazis in Ukraine should worry them.

“Propaganda is of no use to the politician unless he has something to say which the public, consciously or unconsciously, wants to hear.” – Edward Bernays

The aim of El Pais’ fabrication was not only to discredit the Communists, but also to implicate the Russian government directly in the civil war in Ukraine. Their report says the Spaniards reached Donbass after “after a stopover in Moscow, where they met a Russian official.”

This is another lie. The foreign fighters in fact went to Donbass through Rostov: not via Moscow.
Other fighters arrived in Donbass from Kiev, Odessa and Volgograd: not through Moscow.
When they left Donbass to go home, the communists went through Moscow, not to see any “Russian officials,” but to meet officials from the Spanish embassy to obtain the necessary papers so they can return home legally. “The police know all these details, as well as they also know that there was no other legal possibility to leave Ukraine and return to European Union. Some who tried to do so were forced back to Russia, where they were detained by the police and later expelled. This has been the “favor” Russia did to the Spanish militia.”

Why would El Pais lie that Nazis fight for social justice and equality, when this might even offend the Nazis themselves? Could they be so ignorant not to know that Nazis actually want exactly the opposite?
Ignorance is not the answer here.
The accusation that communists joined hands with Nazis because they would be “alike” is so shocking that, assuming they ever had such intentions, the leftists in the West would simply back off and would want nothing to do with the resistance of the rebels and of the Donbass people, because they would consider that these are anything but communists.

257513tQ0e0SvETDo (1)

This accusation was rather presented as some “revelation” with the intent to suggest that El Pais has “unearthed” “the hidden truth” about the population of Donbass; that is, that they lied they were resisting Kyiv because of Nazism, and to confirm western propaganda’s claims that these people were nothing more than Putin’s arms in breaking up Ukraine. That they’re not like real individuals with their own minds and their own lives, families and family history: they are just Putin’s pawns. (It’s so strange how Western media always attribute to others their own totalitarian way of thinking.)
El Pais report, upon which nobody cast a single doubt, insinuated that because “half” of the fighters in Donbass share a certain ideology – Nazism– the people of Donbass must identify with them, even more since they adhere to a common space with Russia and, we already know from western media and western leaders that Putin is “Putler” (the new Hitler, that is). Projection works like this. (5)

By extension, the claim that Donbass resistance was “half Nazi” was meant to fuel the western propaganda against Russia: that this country is a danger to humankind, that “it’s a fascist, rogue state prone on lebensraum, under the sword of Putin who lives in 19th century and who embarked on warships to conquer the world” because “he hates our freedoms”, of course. (Russians are also portrayed as a faceless crowd of mindless pawns who are backward and blindly follow their “master” into the abyss; when they are not directly insulted, mocked and depicted as some pathetic, failed copies of Westerners.) These accusations were meant to be so absurd with the intent to deny Russia the right to defend herself against US-led NATO’s aggression. West’s aggression falls in the steps of Hiler’s war against Russia, through Ukraine and through Middle East and even Asia. That these are NATO’s plans has been admitted by Strafor openly and publicly. They are “afraid” of Russia’s resources so they are going to “defend” against them by getting their hands on them. Such is “the logic” of the empire.

The Spanish newspaper mocked Spanish communists for living in the past of the International Brigades, in an imaginary past, one that is totally disconnected from reality, since, you guessed right: There.Are.No.Nazis.In.Ukraine. All these people who see them are not to be listened to because they can’t be serious: come on, Nazis in 21st century? Supported by the great democratic civilized West? Those flags and swastikas popping up everywhere they set foot in Ukraine? They don’t mean them, it’s just how romantic male warriors have fun; and anyway, even if they mean them, these Nazis are “heroes” because they “defend their homeland” against “Russian aggression”, as the propaganda goes in the western media. They tortured and raped women too, but nothing wrong with that, it’s stuff to be expected from men-with-guns-in-times-of-war; you see, war is tough, you are expected to understand and maybe even feel compassion for these rapists who tortured and beheaded women. Rape and torture of women in villages and cities the Ukrainian uniforms invaded and occupied are secondary issues, there are bigger stakes here, such as the profits of Western corporations and the victory of “the empire of good”. “Rights” are for “humans”, not quite for women, in the great civilized western world.

Anyway, the reports in the Spanish papers, and in other media which spread them like wild fire, were intended to prove that Communists in reality were and are just like Nazis – this is part of a huge, decades-long, conceptual and ideological propaganda against Eastern Europe. The West admitted this policy in their 2008 Prague declaration, which made the absurd claim that “Communism was just like Nazism”, and marked Europe’ slide down towards fascism. (Not surprising, western media was dead silent on UN’s resolution against Nazism, since US and Canada voted against it.) Its roots are in the propaganda against communism captured by Hayek’s lies that leftists intentionally contributed to the rise of fascism and Nazism, and in such a way that they desired to see Nazism victorious, when in fact they were defeated by capitalists and western governments supporting Nazis and fascists before and after the World War II. (6) This lie confirmed once more that western media, controlled by US in particular, serve not just corporate interests, but also an ideological agenda, aimed in particular at discrediting leftists, be they socialists, communists, and anarchists.

“Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the media.” — Noam Chomsky

Why this obsession?
In Donbass, the rebels – who are mostly local working people – do fight Nazis and fascists supported by Western governments. The propaganda against Donbass was even more powerful than the propaganda for expanding the war in Ukraine to Russia; this is how crucial it was for Western governments to cut Donbass off from any international support. (7)
It worked (8) because leftists refused to let themselves seen supporting the same cause as the Nazis and fascists in their own countries, in spite of the fact that leftists should be aware of Nazis’ constant attempts to parasite social struggles to gain credibility and win the public on their side.
Ironically, most western leftists deny that Donbass is fighting Nazism, while the Nazis in Lviv and Kyiv acknowledge they are faced with anti-fascist resistance and this drives their fanaticism to crush and wipe out the local population.

Another way to hide the Nazis in Kyiv was to relate to politicians the West pushed to power following the coup, while silencing the fact that these politicians were able to overthrow the government of Yanukovych with the armed support of the Nazis, by violence, not election, while being supported and even trained by the west for many decades. In Ukraine, these Nazis are the ones who control the politicians and this has become obvious with their success to use politicians in colonizing the state security apparatus – the police, prosecutors, secret service and the last bastion, the army. They openly blackmailed the president and even their own politicians to keep going the civil war in eastern Ukraine in particular, and to push for laws allowing them full control over state power. This is how they entered the parliament and this is how Dmytro Yarosh has been “offered” the position of defense minister. Immediately after that he said he wants to deport the population of Donbass, which is a normal statement in Ukraine these days; his instigation to violence followed official statements by the interior minister of Ukraine who said he was sorry they did not kill all in Donbass.

In Ukraine, especially in Kyiv and Lviv, the Nazis and fascists are the armed uniforms in the battalions of UNA-UNSO (aka Right Sector) death squads, which were incorporated in the National Guard (who are now trained by US National Guard in Lviv), and those who run the secret service of Ukraine (their Gestapo, SBU) and tortured and killed ordinary people people and political opponents they kidnapped; and now after the oligarchs’ war burst out, their leader is to be given an official position in the defense sector. Dmytro Yarosh had obsessed for a year to obtain this; the army being the last structure of Ukrainian defense and security apparatus which was not totally colonized by Nazis. After he was offered this position, the Ukrainian president went even further: he claimed that 80% of SBU (Ukrainian secret service) had always been “Russian agents”. This signals a major ideological cleansing withing this SBU, which already acts as Ukraine’s Gestapo, so that they can make room for more Nazis to be taken in SBU.

There’s total silence in the western corporate media about how these Nazis have colonized the security, police and army apparatus of Ukraine. Not surprising.

What is even more damaging for the Spanish newspaper is that they and others in the western propaganda acted as political police towards the Communists.
“The propaganda of El Pais was of assistance to Alberto Sicilia, a contributor to , who “used a story about some fighters from France, aired in July by a French television, to justify the detention of young Spanish anti-fascists and to justify the repression of political dissent, showing that they are capable of anything.”

Why would El Pais stoop so low?

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.” – Edward Bernays

El Pais, as well as western corporate media (mainstream and alternative) are part of this invisible government. However, such blatant fabrications probably were not imaginable when the paper was not owned by a billionaire from the United States, Nicolas Berggruen, who is also a member of the Council of Foreign Relations (of the spearheads of the US empire, its members supported the coup in Ukraine and they also intend regime change/war with Russia).

El Pais is part of PRISA, the major Spanish media conglomerate, founded in 1972 which, as of 2010 came under the control of this billionaire, through a US hedge fund, Liberty Acquisition Holdings, which owns 51% of the Spanish company. This billionaire also funded Huffington Post, and has a grip on major universities in US. He is a member of the Brookings International Advisory Council and the NYU President’s Global Council, and part of the leadership at organisation Council at Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership, a member of Harvard University’s Global Advisory Council, as well as a trustee of the Asia Society. This billionaire financed Democrats in the US and conservatives in UK; basically he’s a Thatcherite.

Part of Ukrainian propaganda in the US sponsored civil war against the population of Donbass has been to hide their own fascism by accusing the people they bombed in the east of being “Nazis and fascists”, “orthodox fundamentalists” and other labels meant to confirm the accusations already constructed in the perception of Western public by the propaganda against Russia.
In particular US controlled media and propagandists supported by US were instrumental in their efforts to portray Kyiv as a political space which was not dominated by Nazis and fascists (they even lied the Nazis were “leftists”), and which was terribly concerned about the fascism of the population of Donbass. It was as if the February coup brought to power a communist government, which rendered the western propaganda absurd since the Nazis in Kyiv banned Communists, “suicided” dozens of them, voted laws to cleanse them from state apparatus and are hunting them down, kidnapping, torturing and killing them as a way of governing.

Repeated denials about the influence and power the Nazis have gained in Kyiv, with the open support and instigation of the United States, have been relentless in western media. When it became too embarrassing to keep ignoring them, western media had to mention them, but always stressing they were “a minority”, focusing on individual Nazis with the intent to downplay the scale to which the Nazis had colonized state institutions and even set up their own parallel state, and, what’s even more important, hardly ever mentioning the program of their “national revolution”.

These Nazis consider they don’t have a state now, in spite of the fact that Ukraine is a separate state, because the “national state” they want to achieve, as OUN commandments demand, is an empire. An Ukrainian empire, expanding on the territories of Russia, cleansed of the population in the east, either by exterminating them or by deporting them.
Faced with undeniable evidence, western media resorted to calling them “a minority”, singling out just some battalions, avoiding to see that the laws adopted by Ukraine fell under this ideology and even praising them as “freedom fighters” and “heroes” who are defending “their motherland from Russian aggression” (how they call the civil war waged by Ukraine against the east of the country). Not even when Minsk I&II admitted that Ukraine must get out of Donbass, because it was too obvious they were waging war of extermination, state terrorism and ethnic cleansing, western media still refused to admit the Nazis were the core of the new ruling class which their governments helped bring to power in Kyiv following the armed coup, military-style organized insurgency between November 2013-February 2014.
The terror and fear the post-coup government has dragged the parts of Ukraine they control into has been censored by the mainstream media; the forced poverty, the destruction of economy, the closing down of hundreds of schools, the layoffs, and the absurd hikes in the costs of life – all inflicted by the IMF upon the population of Ukraine – have also been censored by western media, when it was not blamed on Russia, when Russian media reported it all.

Western media even attempted to create the impression that the Nazis were even “radical leftists; which is seriously disturbed considering that their own deeds, words, actions, reasons for slaughtering, and political ideas prove these people are Nazis.

The song of fear in western media has been that Russia is a danger for Europe because they would plan to destroy Europe by poisoning it with fascism. Sadly, Europe does not need Russia do to that, it’s all too willing to do it on her own. But the fear built-up as rationale to “save Europe from Russia” has embraced this idea that even war must be necessary to save it from “Russian fascists”.
The key word here is war. If you listened to the rage of these propagandists, you’d say they are the most radical leftists in Europe, and that even the United States have become a beacon of radical anti-capitalism; sadly, reality proves is not so.

There is no western media which criticized or alerted their public over the Nazis NATO and especially US have been breeding in Ukraine.
During the maidan they simply ignored them; after the coup they claimed they were a minority (a lie: the February coup was executed by paramilitary groups of UNA-UNSO Nazis, storm troopers).
When the civil war started, western journalists embedded with the Nazi battalions, just like they embedded with US army in their imperial wars. Western journalists do not report on Ukraine, they control the information as to safeguard the space US and NATO need to fabricate their war against Russia.
This is why even when they report about Nazis, western journalists portray them as heroes, romantic men who are the “absolute victims”, and who committed so many war crimes that even “human rights organisations” could ignore them any longer, and even the Ukrainian governor of Lugansk demanded Kyiv to prosecute them.

The embrace of Nazism by western media is institutionalized. Western reporters have embedded with Nazi battalions ever since the civil war in Ukraine started. This somehow did not surprise anyone, which shows it comes natural for western media (read, western corporate states).

These “journalists” praised the Nazis while they were slaughtering civilians, bombing villages and cities, and kept dead silent on the official positions of the government in Ukraine about the war, because these exposed that Nazism was officially employed by the state of Ukraine.
Even when they had to mention Nazis in the Ukrainain death squads, they lied with the purpose of downplaying their influence. Even when in Lviv the Nazis welcomed them with guns in their hands in public pubs, western reporters still lied that Swastikas they saw around them everywhere were just some “ancient symbols”, nothing to do with Nazism. (see this BBC PR for Nazism in Ukraine.)

ukr congress praising AIDAR BBC

AIDAR has been accused even by the Amnesty Intl for war crimes committed against the population of Donbass – torture included. Amnesty’s report said nothing about rapes, but recommended that the Nazis who committed the war crimes they talked about be incorporated into state police so that the Nazis “can be taught the law.” For real.

USA Today presented Nazism in Azov battalion as “one guy“‘s “personal ideology“, never mentioning that in fact this is the group’s ideology and the reason for which they demanded and got the civil war against east Ukraine. These “journalists” never ever mention that fascist ideology, of which Nazism is a part, is reproduced by the post-coup Ukrainian state in their laws, killing of political opponents and fascist repression by Ukraine’s Gestapo-SBU – which began in full force with the Odessa massacre of May 2, 2014 – and by the IMF’s economic policies in Ukraine (and in the rest of Eastern Europe, as a matter of fact). The lie that Nazis are just some isolated cases has been fully exposed by the head of Ukrainian Gestapo (the secret service SBU), which also has a political propaganda department headed by a Nazi from Svoboda. The head of SBU, V. Nalivaichenk, is a long-time mentor of Dmytro Yarosh, they both were in UNA-UNSO, and, when the maidan in Kyiv started, they rebranded UNA-UNSO into Right Sector (to make it look spontaneous).  Personally, Nalivaichenk, like almost all politicians in power now in Ukraine is not only a Nazi, but also a crusader. He wants to redesign SBU following the model of OUN/UPA, the Nazis who welcomed, recruited killers and slave workers for Hitler’s armies and factories during WWII. What he says is that he wants to turn SBU into a more fanatical and bloody Gestapo. Personal ideology, indeed. He made this announcement days after the Ukrop president invented excuses for the ideological cleansing of SBU, claiming that 80% of their personnel were “Russian agents.” Whenever they want to force more Nazis in the state apparatus, they immediately invent “Russian agents,” or claim they fight corruption, they being the worst corrupt individuals in Ukraine.

Nazis’ main war is always against the communists, so the Prime-Minister Yatsenyuk announced that he wants to ban the “communist ideology” starting from May 9. They actually want to ban anyone who would defend the access of people in Ukraine to public services, resources and wealth. But let Yats call SBU to arrest anyone who shares something without demanding money  – because sharing is inherently communist. But for the Ukrop president and his gang in power, this is “terrorism.”

These are not just words. These politicians, who are blackmailed, threatened and controlled by Nazis, actually enforce a Nazification of Ukraine. Poroshenko praised the flag of Nazi collaborator and later CIA’s Stepan Bandera, that is Nazi UPA flag, today UNA- UNSO. He said, “Under this flag, soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army [allied with the Nazis] went into battle. … Pay attention! The flags of Ukraine and the European Union are dyed in the same colors! This is a self-explanatory and important sign!” Probably he sees the dawn of the “Ukrainian empire” in this sign. Prime-minister Yatsenyuk also praised UPA and accused the Soviet Union of invading Germany in WWII, claiming that Hitler was the victim in the second world war. Poroshenko also admires Bandera; he agreed that the Holocaust collaborator and Nazi ally should be “national hero”, whatever Russia might say because other countries also have heroes who are “controversial” for other countries. By his logic, Germany could also name Hitler “national hero”.

Poroshenko, the Ukrop president, made himself a special uniform, the badge says “Cynical Bandera” and he gives the thumb up to express his happiness for wearing it.

Just a regular sight in Lviv: nazis marching; this photo is couple of years old.

Happy Nazis smiling next to partisans they hanged on the front in eastern Europe.

Sonderkommando went into REID ...

Ceremony in Lviv in the memory of Waffen SS, UPA were members of SS, half a year before the fascist coup, orchestrated by the US in Ukraine. It’s a re-enactment of the burial of SS Nazis; such events are regular in Western Ukraine.

So you learn from USA Today that there “only” “10-20% are Nazis in Azov“. A sponsor and collaborator of the Ukrainian fascist diaspora in US, Andrey Moytl found this to be an exaggeration and counted only some 30-40 Nazis in Azov, in an incredible article in Foreign Policy, where he says Azov’s Nazi leader speaks just like GOP in the US; actually this is not far from reality. It’s absurd how far they go to downplay Azov’s Nazism. Men come to this group exactly because this is a Nazi battalion – now upgraded as regiment and incorporated in the ministry of interior -, part of the vanguard of the “national revolution” in Ukraine.  Nazis join this group coming from Sweden, Italy, France, UK, Spain, Canada, Germany, Poland, US, Belarus and Russia; the difference is that Western countries cover up for them, while in Russia they are arrested and jailed; lots of them actually had to escape to Ukraine where they got political asylum and citizenship, even from the hands of the Ukrop president of Ukraine. Rich bastards pay them, some of them Saudis, who also pay Chechen killers to slaughter eastern Ukraine civilians on behalf of Kyiv government. Azov is the battalion which bragged that they are the “new Freikorps” of Europe and was formed on the backbone of Patriots of Ukraine which were the armed storm troopers of SNA, a Nazi and terrorist organisation, supported by highly placed politicians in Ukraine (such as the first vice prime-minister of Ukraine in the first post-coup government of Ukraine, by the current minister of interior, and the Prime-Minister of Ukraine, Yatsenyuk); also part of the larger Nazi organisation, UNA-UNSO.
Just a month before the maidan, a Nazi from the Patriots of Ukraine was sentenced to 40 years in jail, in UK, for terrorism, after he butchered an imam with a knife and tried to blow up 3 mosques, “to start a racist war” for “the white race”. (9) The conservative government of the Tchatcherite David Cameron, and almost the entire political spectrum in UK are some of the staunchest supporters of these Nazis in Ukraine.

This is the ambassador of the United States, lying without any shame. The pic he posted is a secret grave near Odessa, Ukraine, where Ukrainian soldiers and possibly civilians from Eastern Ukraine are buried as “surgical waste”. The Ukrainian government hides the real death toll of the civil war it waged against eastern Ukraine. These are not Russian soldiers, they are Ukrainian; the pic is not from Donbass (rebel controlled), but from Odessa (government controlled).

Yet, USA Today lies that Nazism is “a personal ideology” of one Nazi, Alex, shown in a photo laughing and just being a cool guy; indeed, Nazis are not so bad for the West. The Guardian also chatted with them at a beer when they took a breath from slaughtering civilians in the east… you must understand that Nazis are nice people who fight “terrorists” from Russia in their homes in Donbass, kill them in their beds, on the streets, in hospitals, in schools, in markets, in workplaces, in the playground…

It’s not only that USA Today lies, but they actually outrageously insult the intelligence of their readers. They quote Azov’s deputy commander, Oleg Odnorozhenko, who “complained that Alex does not speak for the group. “If he has his own sympathies, it’s his own matter,” Odnorozhenko said in a former high school serving as a base” (USA Today presents this war crime as some innocent fact; it’s a “former” high school because Nazis occupied it on purpose, even if it’s not allowed by international law that schools be turned into military outposts; but in Ukraine the government sends Nazis on purpose to occupy schools in the east and turn them into military bases, so that students are denied education). “But he has no right to make statements in a way they can be construed as the position of the regiment. He will be dealt with severely for his lack of discipline,” says Oleg Odnorozhenko, Azov’s deputy commander about his subordinate, Alex.

LOL. What?
This guy, Oleg Odnorozhenko, who says these words, is no other but the chief ideologue of the Patriots of Ukraine and of SNA, a fanatical Nazi, historian by profession.
Even BBC, which otherwise constantly whitewashed the Nazis in Ukraine and was a propaganda channel for the coup in Kyiv, had to admit this much: that Nazism is mandatory to join Azov, and unless it is embraced by Azov warriors, it could have them expelled from the battallion.

Oleg Odnorozhenko considers that Azov represents “European identity fighting Sovietness”; translated: Nazis fighting Communists (another proof that El Pais lied horribly). Odnorozhenko explained lots of times that their ideology aims to turn Ukraine into a “natsiokratiya”; that is, the dictatorship of the nation, a fascist program commanded for future generations by the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists before, during and after World War II. They, the current para-military groups which sprung from Nazi UNA-UNSO, consider themselves the ideological and spiritual heirs of UPA, who had been part of Hitler’s death squads in Eastern Europe. UPA instigated/committed/participated at the Holocaust against Jews, and committed atrocities in Belarus, Ukraine, Poland and Russia, they had butchered their Polish neighbors. The massacres of Russians at the hands and knives and torches of Ukrainian nationalists started long before World War I.

Here’s “the main ideological referent of Social-National Assembly, PhD in History Oleg Odnorozhenko”, as he presents himself:
“Ukraine exists to achieve its main priority: expanding to become “a great power, mastered by Kyiv of the natural geopolitical space between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, and to steadily expand in the northeast direction (our note: over the territory of Russia). This is our concept of Ukrainian great-might (our note: he means “empire”). On this are based our views of the history of Ukraine as the country with the imperial past and the continuous great-power competitions of the military elites of our Nation.”
That is, they want to expand Ukraine and set up the Kievan Rus empire, “an Aryan empire” of the “Ukrainian master-race” whose manifest destiny is to destroy Russia and dominate Europe and EurAsia. They hate and want to exterminate or enslave all non-white people and all people who do not submit to them.

“Natiocracy”, the ideology of the nationalism of the deed of the 1920 – 1940 is “today’s modern nationalism” of “the generation of the cruel youth,” engaged in the Winter Revolution (maidan&February coup) and the War for Donbass. “We rely only on our own forces of the Ukrainian Nation, its Will to life and victory. Namely, this spiritual “kindred” connects our generation with the generation of the Heroes of the 1920 – 1940,” Oleg Odnorozhenko says.

Ukrainian fascist diaspora from Canada during a performance in the memory of Nazi Stepan Bandera, 2009.

Here’s the most important of them, SNA leader and Azov commander, Andrei Biletsky (also elected a Senator in the Rada, his party is part of a political alliance of the Ukrainian prime-minister Yatsenyuk), his subordinates consider him the fuhrer of “the white world”:

“Apart from the question of purity (of blood), we must pay attention to the issue of the usefulness of the Race. Ukrainians are a part (and one of the largest and the highest quality) of the European White Race. The historic mission of our nation in this critical moment is to lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade for their survival. A crusade against the Semite-led Untermenschen (sub-humans),” as it’s been published in a manifest called “The ideology of SNA”, translated in Russian by WotanJungend, a Nazi organisation from Russia, part of Azov. Their nationalism is based on “the blood, which is the foundation of the Race” and the nation is “a single biological organism“. “UNA-UNSO ideologist and trainer, Andrei Shkil, explicitly said whom he believes embodies “social biology” in action: “people who place small explosive devices near big synagogues.” (this source forgets to mention that the mentor of Svoboda’s leader has been Neo-nazi Le Pen from France’s FN; and that Yarosh’s mentor has been Alastair Bullman, leader of a Nazi organization from UK, Blood&Honour; and that that most important source for Ukrainian Nazism has been their diaspora from Canada, United States, Australia).

A decade ago, Shkil was speaking of a UNA-UNSO cell in Moscow, and this Nazi organization has even older branches in Belarus too. When he was in Rada, among the cronies of Yulia Tymoshenko after UNA-UNSO instigated the western-backed and sponsored “Orange Revolution” of 2004, Andriy Shkil registered in the Verkhovna Rada a bill to ban abortions, “at the specific request of the Vatican and the Greek Catholic Church.”

“There will be a NEW NATIONALISM based on elements of social biology (of course, in a very selective manner). For example, ‘People are genetically unequal’ assert the Rightists. ‘Nations are genetically unequal’ we assert.” “Paraphrasing de Benoist’s “first the winning of minds, and then the winning of power,” Shkil’ adds “only after uniting the head with the flexible strong Ukrainian body can we deal with Europe and only then can Europe deal with us.” (Source)

What Nazi Andrei Biletsky says here comes straight from the political and idelogical program of UNA-UNSO whose goal is the establishment of the “Ukrainian Aryan empire”: “We replace the slogan “Independent Ukraine” slogan “Great Ukraine”. Ukrainians are a nation with an ancient imperial history. The task of the present generation to create the Third Reich – Greater Ukraine. And this question, oddly enough, is not so much political as biological. Any living organism in nature tends to expand, multiply, increase. This law is universal for the person and for the Nation-Race. To stop this is the nature of extinction and it means death. Inhibition of population growth leads to biological death of the Nation, the cessation of political expansion and decline of the State.”

Nazism makes them “strong”: “We will take all (land) that is rightfully ours, and even a little more. We’ll build a superpower empire – the Great Ukraine, which is a legitimate legal successor of the Scythian and the Kiev-Russian empires. If we are weak, then we will be dying among the conquered peoples. Because that is the nature! The choice is ours!

Nazism for them is “a shield to all the ancient Ukrainian Aryan values forgotten in today’s society. Only their revival and embodied in the life of a group of fanatical warriors may lead to the final victory of European civilization in the world struggle. Glory to Ukraine!”
They are Nazis as in Hiler-like Nazis. Here’s Andriy Shkil, one of the main ideologues of UNA-UNSO, the nazi who trained and formed these Nazis in UNA-UNSO for years. In this video, he said: “One Ukraine, one nation, one people, one president” and then he gave the Hitler salute.

They want to abolish any form of democracy. Biletsky claims “democracy” leads to “the degeneration of the nation” because it’s “not based on a hierarchy of natural born leaders”. He urges the Nazis to take the whole power of the state so that they can impose the dictatorship of the nation. (Andrew Biletsky – “Ukrainian Order”, Social Nationalist edition, №2 – March 2010)

How Ukrainian Nazis see their new country, image is explained below by one of UNA-UNSO’s commanders (now dead).

During the First Chechen War he led the UNA-UNSO “Viking” group.”

Nazi UNA-UNSO’s program reproduces the tenets of OUN in 1920s, which command Ukrainians to obtain ‘a state or die fighting for it’. This image – UNA-UNSO Nazis conquering Moscow – explains what they mean by ‘state’: Ukrainian Aryan empire. It was posted after US-backed fascist coup in Kyiv.

Here’s Igor Krivoruchko, another leader of SNA (the political arm of Azov, which is also represented in the Parliament, in an alliance forged together with the prime-minister of Ukraine, IMF’s man, Yatsenyuk):  “The ideology of our organization is called social-nationalism. The underlying idea of the nation as the optimal form of the existence of human society. In this case, the term “nation” should be understood not some abstract, political invention, but a very specific understanding of it as a blood&spiritual community. We also reject democracy and consider it unacceptable form of government for our country. Our political doctrine called “natsiokratiya””, a concept of government, which rejects any form of democracy, because it claims that the military elite is the only cast which must rule the nation.”

Ukrainian police during the massacre committed by Nazis against anti-government people from Odessa, May 2, 2014. Police, alredy controlled by Nazis in Kyiv, was complicit with the Nazis in Odessa in organizing the massacre. These policemen are wearing shilds on which you can see the Nazi symbol Wolfsangel, which is the symbol of Azov and of the “Ukrainian revolution”, next to the cross in a circle which is the worldwide symbol of neo-Nazism. These policemen were pretending to be defending the people in the trade union building in Odessa, but they never stepped inside the building where the Nazis were butchering the Odessites, in the moments when this picture was taken.

Nazis have colonized all state institutions following the May 2 massacre in Odessa, which marked the new phase of the “Ukrainian revolution”: fascist repression and state terrorism against anyone opposing the Nazis in the territories they control and civil war in the east of Ukraine.

nov 2014 Lvov neo-Nazis read lectures to high school students about Great Ukraine

November 2014, Lviv: Nazi lecturing high school students about “Great Ukraine”, meaning Ukrainian Aryan empire.

Western governments refuse to admit they support in Ukraine fascists, neo-Nazis, ultra-nationalists and religious fundamentalists: they are never directly and openly questioned about this. Whenever anyone draws attention to them, the supporters of these forces start pointing fingers at Russia, in an attempt to divert attention from them or even justify their existence. But they do not say that paramilitary Nazis from Russia and Belarus were among the Right Sector who led armed battle on the streets of Kyiv with the former police when the Nazis confiscated state power during the February coup.

A Swedish Nazi making money from killing who flew in Ukraine on a private jet – paid by a rich bastard – repeatedly said that their goal in killing the population of Donbass is to establish “a white Europe and a white Ukraine,” or as Yarosh and Azov might say, “a white Reconquista“.

Other epic moments in journalism

The Guardian involuntarily exposed that Ukrainian women killing in the civil war against eastern Ukraine were Nazis, when they printed a photograph with one of them posing next to a van on which you could read the Nazi symbols 14/88 (14 – David Lane’s white supremacy 14 words; for Nazis 88 is a code for “Heil Hitler”; next to the insignia of a Nazi division from the second world war,  36th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, also known as the SS-Sturmbrigade Dirlewanger, anti-partisan operations.

Nazi “Anaconda” presented as heroic “freedom fighter” by The Guardian.

Initially, the Guardian made no mention of their Nazi ideology, but did so only after readers demanded them to. The article is praising these Nazis. One of them, nicknamed “Anaconda” says for her “The only problem is to find a room to change.” Why would Nazism be a problem for a Nazi, after all? The Guardian has a practice already at whitewashing Nazis in Ukraine and praising them as “heroic” “freedom fighters”, while covering up their ideology, the reasons for which they kill the inhabitants of eastern Ukraine and also their war crimes.

One of main propagandists of the coup d’etat, this liar from Murdoch’s Vice, has been fired at when tried to visit one of Azov’s bases; he lied about the Nazis influence in Ukraine, a bullet was the confirmation of his own crap.

French magazine Elle published photographs of two other Nazi girls, one of which is Vita Zaverukha, member of UNA-UNSO, participant in the Odessa massacre, in the civil war she was part of Aidar battalion, accused of numerous war crimes against the population of eastern Ukraine. She is a fanatical Nazi – she published pictures joking that the ovens Nazis burned Jews in concentration camps were “Solarium for Jews” and she repeatedly demands the expulsion of Jews from Ukraine; not to mention the sadistic mockery she makes about the starving children of Africa, whom she compares with the population the government in Ukraine starved on purpose in Donbass, during the civil war. She tortured pensioners her battalion kidnapped in the east. Elle claimed they did not know she is a Nazi, though her pictures are public and more than eloquent. She praised killing people in east Ukraine as something that “keeps her alive”.

nazi elle ukraine without kikes jews

UNA-UNSO Nazi presented as hero by Elle magazine; on her social media pages she posted this which says “Ukraine without kikes”. Kikes is how the Nazis call Jews.

She filmed herself having fun bombing a village, where there were only civilians. For fun, you know?

“Make sure you film the village too.”

“OK, ready?”

“Not good light, but OK: shoot!”

“Where did it hit?”

“Who knows?”

Other epic moments in Western journalism were when Vice finally discovered a swastika in Ukraine for the first time in months. Their reporter covered up that the Ukrainian army was simply bombing a village to kill as many inhabitants as possible; but their reporters also show US troops on the front in Ukraine involuntarily. Another Murdoch media, Sky News, glorified the Nazis from Azov, and joined them even in their Nazi torch marches. To name just a few examples from virtually all western mainstream media.

BBC reporting on Nazis’ attack against the Russian embassy in Kyiv, not seeing any Nazis. The Swastikas were painted by them on the fence of the Russian embassy, as their own signature.

In conclusion, here’s Azov’s MP commander, Andrei Biletsky: “Unfortunately, among the Ukrainian people today there are a lot of ‘Russians’ (by their mentality, not their blood), ‘kikes’ (derogatory term they use for Jews), ‘Americans’, ‘Europeans’ (of the democratic-liberal European Union), ‘Arabs’, ‘Chinese’ and so on, but there is not much specifically Ukrainian… It’s unclear how much time and effort will be needed to eradicate these dangerous viruses from our people.”

Poor Nazis, they are so stressed it will take longer to “purify” their “nation”; western media will be there to assist them every step of the way.

Apparently, this means to be “a good expert” on Ukraine.

This is a site of the Russian Nazis who are in Azov, the interview is quoted above.

(1) US will train even Azov Nazis on 20 April, on Hitler’s birthday; while 70 percent of draftees (even in Lviv, Nazis’ stronghold) are running away from the civil war.

(2) Why would such an important mainstream newspaper from Spain risk to discredit themselves like this? First of all because Spain supports the Nazis who control most of the state power in Ukraine, and the Spanish government they just passed a fascist law criminalizing basic rights people have to express dissent towards abuses they endure from the government. Second, to discredit Donbass in the eyes of the communists and anarchists in Spain, and among the Western leftists, who could bypass their differences and unite in supporting the antifascist fight of the people in east Ukraine. Third, to intimidate their own anti-capitalist resistance at home: the Communists were arrested because of their political convictions; this places the Spanish state on the same line with the fascist government of Ukraine which hunts down communists to annihilate them ideologically, politically and physically.Presenting Donbass resistance to NATO-backed post-coup fascist government of Ukraine as “fascist” and “nazi” was a main pillar in the propaganda machine of western governments and media, ever since the maidan in Kyiv.

The source of the following is a file CIA declassified in 2007 under the Nazi war crimes law, which explains how the US government erased the war crimes committed by their Cold War allies – the Nazis supported today by the west in Ukraine are the heirs of those – during WWII when they embraced not only Nazism, but also the Nazis. Part of Ukrainian propaganda and rewriting the history is that they are “unique in the world”, because during WWII, OUN’s storm troopers, UPA, fought against “the nazis as well as against the soviets.” This is a lie. UPA did not fight against the Nazis – this has been confirmed by German archives. They did not even fight against western armies which were the enemies of Hitler, because they asked Hitler not to send them fight the westerners. They only fought the Soviets, and got defeated in almost identical ways like they were defeated by the workers of Donbass during the civil war from our time:

“Is quite farcical for modern Ukrainians to allege that Bandera’s gang were never Nazi collaborators. From 1933 through 1949, one faction or another of the OUN was always in bed with the Nazis. The lower-level staffs were dominated by the OUN all through the Nazi occupation. They were armies of the Ukrainian Holocaust, the members of the police battalions, the soldiers of the S.S..”

“The myth of Bandera, the freedom fighter, was invented by the American Intelligence after the defection of Lebed and Ruchardt. In 1951, a false version of OUN history was created to convince American immigration authorities to drop their ban on OUN members. Bandera himself was protected from arrest by the U.S. Intelligence, and the horrible Nazi records of OUN atrocities were hidden from public view. The classified files point a very different, and very damning portrait of the OUN leaders.”

This prosecutor, John Loftus, saw and knew of documents which proved that OUN and UPA collaborated with SS and committed war crimes during Hitler’s occupation of Eastern Europe and invasion of Russia. He said he read documents which are evidence that Stetkso’s OUN (Stetsko got to lead the OUN after Bandera’s death) “collaborated with the Nazis” and “were involved in atrocities”. He says these documents are Nazi records which he read in original and which were kept in the U.S. National Archives.

“The U.S. Government had a Nazi document entitled “The treatment of the Russian problem during the time of the National-Socialist Regime in Germany.” For nearly 40 years the contents of this voluminous manuscript have been classified TOP SECRET by the U.S. Army, and was available, until very recently, only to federal employees.

The manuscript is a personal account of the recruitment and secret collaboration of various Russian, White Russian, and Ukrainian groups with Nazi intelligence during World War II.

The author is an unimpeachable Nazi source, S.S Obersturmbannführer Friederich Ruchardt, who helped coordinate the Nazi mobile killing unit (Einsatzgruppen) on the Eastern Front. In return for his encyclopedic knowledge of secret Nazi collaborators, including the OUN, Ruchardt was hidden from the Nuremberg prosecutors by American Intelligence.  The remainder of the Einsatzgruppen leaders were convicted as major war criminals and, with few exceptions, were hanged. To my knowledge, Ruchardt was the only S.S. Einsatzgruppen leader to escape justice.

… I had unrestricted access to the still classified eleven volume collection of the OUN/B which Mikola Lebed turned over to Army CIC, which consists of the internal files of OUN. Professor Dallin and I are perhaps the only people alive who have had complete access to the original Nazi records of the OUN which have been classified by the American Intelligence for the past 40 years.

The Ruchardt S.S. manuscript is indisputably authentic. I have a declassified translated version in my possession. The original German manuscript is in the Top Secret Vault NO. 6 ACSI-ID (unreadable) Index Confidential Informants Series, Maryland.”

“I find it amusing that some Australian Ukrainians are denying the Nazi roots of the OUN. According to Ruchardt the OUN in Australia was in secret contact with high-level Nazi party leaders prior to 1933 through a man names Konovalets. According to Ruchardt (p.8) “Konovalets was the head of the extreme-nationalistic Ukrainian secret organization OUN which was active all over the world and supposedly was financially supported especially by Ukrainian emigrants in Canada, USA and Australia.

It developed a very active subversive and conspirative activity and would also not refrain from violence. Confirmation of Ruchardt’s charges can be found independently in Sayre and Khan’s book “Sabotage” (my note- here you find what pressures Ukrainian fascist diaspora exerted to dismiss these accusations), which describes OUN terrorist activity on behalf of the Nazis in pre-war America, including torture chambers, bombings and robberies.”

Admiral Canaris, head of German Military Intelligence (Abhwer) noted in his diary that he planned to use the OUN for “the annihilation of the Jews and the Poles” (Nuremberg Doc. 1047-p.7)

Ruchardt confirms that the plans were carried out (p.158): “The cooperation existing between the German authorities – particularly the German intelligence service – and the OUN become effective for the first time in the German-Polish war when the OUN supplied services of all kinds to the German armed forces entering the Ukrainian settlement areas of Poland.

After the OUN proved its Nazi devotion in the Polish campaign, Ruchardt notes (p.159):  “The germen intelligence service continued the promotion of the OUN because it was the intention to make use of its connections for their own intelligence service, as well for the actions behind the Russian front during the expected war… Based on this assumed decisive back-up, the OUN showed an increasing radicalism… This provoked a split in the OUN… whereby the more moderate predominantly older members, led by Colonel Melnik, left the organization while Bandera continued its policy.”

According to Ruchardt (p.16), Bandera’s faction OUN/B continued through 1940 and 1941 with the planning for Operation Barbarossa: “In the south of the eastern front, in Ukraine, the above mentioned Ukrainian nationalist organization OUN had been very much used already during the preparation of the Russian campaign by the German armed forces, particularly German intelligence. A close cooperation had been developed between the OUN under Bandera and the German authorities…” Ruchardt notes that OUN’s role increased after the invasion to a new and more sinister role (p.26).

“Thus, the OUN was used, before the war, largely for intelligence purposes and later during the advance, to put at the disposal leaders knowing the regions and the language as well as for purposes of sabotage actions behind the Russian lines.”

For the first time, Ruchardt confirms that the OUN was secretly behind the selection of local collaborators for the Nazi security machine in the Ukraine, p.26. “Ukrainians, mostly persons named by the OUN, were then also immediately nominated as temporary mayors, police chiefs etc.” Mykola Lebed was in charge of the internal security section of Bandera’s OUN faction (OUN/B) and helped the Nazis hand-pick OUN members to staff the police forces all across the occupied Ukraine.  Lebed later provided his files to the U.S. Intelligence, including the security checks for some 8,000 OUN members listing their positions in the Nazi police and security agencies.

Ruchardt admits that these local police forces created feelings of terror in the conquered areas (p.27): “Even though the first contact with the German occupation power – the organizational confusion, the lack of planning, the first arbitrary measures of violence, the first shooting of Jews… – already created often mistrust and even “already aversion and feelings of hatred,” Ruchardt’s S.S. account confirms Dallin’s independent charges (id at p.119) that: “During the following days of chaos it became obvious to the Germans that Bandera’s followers, including those in the Nachtigall regiment were displaying considerable initiative, conducting purges and pogroms”.

Dallin adds in a footage: “For some information on Banderovites excesses (my note: SIC) against Russians, Poles and Jews, as well as members of the rival OUN/M, see W. Diewerge ed. Deutsche Soldaten echen ale Sovietunion (Berlin, Limpert, 1941), p.45, Einsatzgruppen reports July 16, August 9 and 28 1941; Petro Yarovyl (New York) 1951, 138-49. “Dallin’s footnote indicated that these Ukrainian Einsatzgruppen reports are not available to the general public. These incriminating S.S. records, like Ruchardt’s manuscript, were also classified by the U.S. Intelligence to protect the OUN.

Not to be outdone by OUN/B in anti-Semitism, the S.S. noted that OUN/B has promised Hitler that they would also free Europe of its Jews. (Unpublished S.S. Einsatgruppen Report, July 13, 1941). No one denies that Yaroslav Stetsko, in one of his first acts of “government” issued a public call for the destruction of the Jew-Bolshevik menace in the Ukraine. The murder of Jews was the official policy of both political factions of OUN. The Nazis followed the same policy in every country they invaded: hire a native organization to secretly recruit police volunteers who would help the Nazis with their mass executions. The Ukraine was no exception.

As Ruchardt notes, p.73, these local police battalions were granted some advantage by the Germans, including better rations in return for their “security tasks”. The nature of these “security tasks” is well-documented in the West German court recording in 1976 in several cases where Ukrainian police battalions committed systematic mass murder. In addition, the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Canada has identified an OUN leader in Volyn as one of the police commanders who supervised the infamous massacre of Jews at Babi-Yar.

Some Ukrainian revisionists have claimed that the OUN could not have collaborated with the Nazis because its leaders were persecuted and imprisoned within a month after the war. There is only little truth in that. One faction of the Nazis, the Gestapo, hated the OUN. Other factions, including the Abwehr and the Ostministerium supported the OUN enthusiastically. Ruchardt’s faction, S.S.-9D (Ant VI), at first hated the OUN, but soon changed its mind when confronted with the task of policing the Ukraine with only a handful of German troops.

Stetsko and the other OUN/B political leaders were temporarily arrested after their premature declaration of “independent” Ukraine offended the Gestapo. Some of the pro-Stetsko police chiefs were removed, but by and large, the OUN-dominated police force not only remained intact, but the S.S. out of necessity actually expanded them in 1941-1942 from mere auxiliary policemen to full-fledged police battalions.

Sensing a new dependency (or weakness) by the S.S., Bandera sought to avenge his previous betrayal by organizing his own military force. As Ruchardt notes (p.160): the military group of the OUN being called UPA… started a lively partisan activity and grew constantly in numbers through the Ukrainian youth who wanted to avoid being sent as workers to Germany.”

For a brief period of time, the OUN had its own renegade force hiding in the forests which would fight anyone who bothered there, including the Germans.

In order to vain potential police recruits away from the political leadership of the OUN, the S.S. dangled a new halt in front of their houses: the elite honor of having their own Ukrainian S.S. Division. The new S.S. policy was enacted by the new governor for Galicia, who was appointed at the turn of the year 1942/1943, and according to Ruchardt, p.160, “was considered a friend of the Ukrainian self-administration. Since he had good relations to Himler he succeeded in the establishment of an own Ukrainian division of the Military …. And that it depended on how they would prove in combat whether additional national wishes of the Ukrainians would be taken into consideration.”

The OUN was rightly skeptical of Nazi purposes and defections to UPA increased. At this point, the SS stopped negotiating with Bandera and tried to force him to obey their wishes (Ruchardt p.161). “Finally in 1943/1941, Bandera, Melnik and a large portion of the OUN leadership were arrested, even including their wives, by the Gestapo. Since Bandera refused to issue an order to UPA, which was active in his name, to stop its partisan activity, he was sent, together with the remaining Ukrainian leaders into the concentration camp…..

Although Bandera had been arrested and released by the Gestapo before, this apparently was the first time he had really been imprisoned. …

Bandera was more than willing to collaborate with Nazis… he asked to be released to coordinate the new OUN-SS alliance. “Thus, Bendera, Melnik and the other leaders of OUN, confined in concentration camps, were released in September 1944 or temporarily held in loose house arrest in a Berlin villa. (Ruchardt, p.238)

Bandera bargained hard throughout 1944 and 1945 with the SS for recognition of the OUN as an official fascist ally of the Third Reich. Until official recognition was given, Bandera would collaborate only to the extent of “joint tactical actions; if the Germans would be willing to render counter-services – for example, supply special weapons, medicine, etc. – one would comply with special German wishes concerning the blasting of bridges, supplying of militarily important information, etc. on the part of the UPA.’ (Ruchardt p.240)…

In the 70’s the communist propaganda machine bombarded the west with a barrage of largely truthful disclosures where western intelligence had protested OUN members who were actually Nazi war criminals.”

(4) Indeed there were at least 3 white nationalists from Europe and a handful from Russia on the side of the rebels in Donbass. But these men were drawn to Donbass by war, not by the ideals or the struggle of the local population, like the Spanish communists were.

During the fall, on the side of Donbass one guy, a white nationalist from Norway, joined a group of several nationalists from Russia; but their intention was to exploit the need of the local population for any external support so that they could promote their own ideology. They failed. There was also a Nazi from Russia who did all he could to make himself very visible, and he too used the anti-fascist resistance of the population in Donbass to gain personal fame. They were even invited by a Russian television to talk about the civil war, but this could be because Russian media rejected nobody who showed support to the population of Donbass, after the entire international community ignored for 6 months the slaughter committed by Kyiv in eastern Ukraine. It could also mean that these Nazis were not in Donbass by accident, but on purpose, due to the intentions of some of those who supported some of the fighters in eastern Ukraine. These interests could had in fact more to do with the conspiracies of the western governments and the relentless attempts to fabricate a coup in Moscow and overthrow the government. But this so far is just a speculation, based on the political and financial affiliation of some leaders of the separatists.

(5) Western media exploded that far righters organized a conference in Moscow late March, which gave them the opportunity to resurrect their demonization propaganda, while they never get so mad about the fascist laws their own states pass, not to mention their mainstream politicians and conservative media instigate rape of women, locking up gays in concentration camps, promote racism and the criminalization of poor people is already a fact. However they did not mention that the far righters conference could hardly be called a success, since from 90 organizations invited just 11 attended. They did not express anger that these fascists came from their own countries, in particular the mad racists and fascist nuts from UK. They did not mention that, whatever one may say about Putin, he, unlike western politicians did urge the public to turn against neo-Nazis: “Anyone who claims that “Russia is for Russians” is either an idiot or a provocateur. Russia is a multicultural, multi-national country.” This is not to say that police in Russia does not oppress immigrants just like the fascist police in EU does; but this position is the opposite position of what he did in the past he copied the western politicians’ model and encouraged them. He might have turned against them because he realized that the west does use nationalism to break down countries, he might have done it too late (Russia has a huge number of neo-Nazis), it’s still a fact that in the past years, and especially after the maidan in Kyiv, Russian judiciary hunts them down mercilessly. Now laugh: when nazis get arrested, western media cries that this is political oppression and calls these scum “prisoners of conscience”, as if Nazis had a conscience.

(6) Hayek and market dictatorship (what capitalism and its neoliberal phase should be called) promoters such as Milton Friedman expressed and showed support for Pinochet’s fascist bloody tiranny and economic and ideological terrorism, which was later to be imported in Latin America and in the rest of the western world by Thatcher and Reagan, to prevent global social justice movements like those who scared the hell out of them in the 60s. These economic attacks by the ruling classes against working classes in the West were assisted by NATO’s Gladio terrorist attacks in Italy, known as “strategy of tension”, to name just one example. “Less democracy” (euphemism for fascism) was needed so that capitalists’ attacks can be successful: Hayek’s claim pops up everywhere in our days, rather tacitly in Europe and brutal in the United States.

(7) In western countries this propaganda was confirmed by the white supremacists and fascists who, during protests in support of Donbass, filled the gap left behind and let themselves be photographed with those who protested the civil war in Ukraine, to use their protest for their own PR.

(8) It also worked because LGBTQ NGOs who were engaged in brutal war propaganda, even openly supporting the Nazis from Kyiv who tried to burn gays alive at least twice, managed to use discrimination against sexual minorities as a tool of war propaganda against Russia.

(9) On October 25, 2013, one month before the EuroMaidan started, in United Kingdom, Pavlo Lapshyn, a neo-nazi student, associated with Dimano Kyiv ultras and paramilitaries Patriots of Ukraine, was convicted to 40 years in jail for terrorist attacks (he bombed 3 mosques) and a crime he committed in the name of white supremacy (he stabbed 82 years old Mohammed Saleem in the back). Dinamo Kyiv ultras have been the main recruitment base for neo-nazis in Right Sector umbrella organisation, later incorporated in the National Guard and even in the army of Ukraine. Patriots of Ukraine are the military arm of the SNA, a neo-nazi organisation, and they fight in the east under the name of Azov. “Neo-Nazi literature and racist chants popular with Dynamo Kiev fans were among the disturbing set of literature found at his home  in Small Heath, Birmingham. Detectives also found a folder marked “White World” on Lapshyn’s computer which included a violent video game called “Ethnic Cleansing” featuring ‘soldiers’ from the Patriots of Ukraine.” He entered UK as a student, and within 5 days he committed all these crimes. This is what the UK judges said in their sentence: “On 18 May you (Lapshyn) created a file on your laptop that related to a Russian individual who characterised his asserted murder of people of Arab, Asian and Chinese extraction as being enemies of  “the race” and the killings as an agency of a Racial Holy War. In that same vein a video game was later found on your computer entitled “Ethnic Cleansing” whose central thesis was the killing of Africans, Latin Americans and Jews – together with other racist material in a media file entitled “White World” and other anti-Semitic, homophobic and racist material… When asked the reason for the bombings, you stated “racism”; “so I would like to increase racial conflict”. You stated that you had acted on the grounds of religion and colour…” (Source)

The Bombing Of Civilians In Lugansk By The Kyiv Government *Graphic*– Behind Ukraine’s Walls of Fire (IV)

Inna Kukurudza was in the center of Lugansk, talking on the phone with her daughter, when she was bombed by an aircraft of the Kyiv government, June 2, 2014. The airstrike hit a public building, which came under the control of the anti-Kyiv population a month ago. It also hit a nearby park.

This is the testimony of the daughter of Inna Kukurudza. Her mother was bombed in the city of Lugansk by a war plane of the Kyiv government, on June 2, 2014 – a month after the Odessa massacre. 8 passers-by in the mostly Russian speaking city were killed and 20 wounded in the bombing, which targeted a public building under the control of the anti-Kyiv population. This, among many others, was a crime against humanity committed by the government in Kyiv for which they must be prosecuted by the Hague tribunal, according to the Geneva conventions, even if such acts do not constitute a violation of the domestic law of the country in which they were committed (see note* at the end of the blog).

The government in Kyiv has been killing civilians in the east since March. Under the pretext of an imaginary war with Russia, they are pursuing their ultra-reactionary “national revolution,” which aims at getting their fatherland free of “occupants” and “Moskali,” as they call the Russian speaking population in the east. To pursue this agenda, the neo-nazis who control state armed forces are building themselves a separate 60,000 army – which will be under their control and which will be used to  command state power. The massacres of civilian population in Ukraine, praised by the West, are just beginning. Under their cover, the government can also maintain a state of emergency in Ukraine, which they need so that the IMF is not met with any resistance to their brutal capitalist accumulation, a.k.a “structural adjustment.”

“I live in Lugansk. Today a tragedy came to our family.

I was talking to my mother on the phone when two big fighter airplanes flew over the cinema Ukraina and over the state administration building.

The airplanes circled above, one over my head, one over my mother’s head, then flew away…

The one over the city center flew over my head, then over the movie theater and turned to the city center…

It flew over the state administration building where my mom was looking over the lists of the wounded.

I heard a rumbling sound and saw the airplane shooting a volley of automatic gunfire.

The airplanes left dark stripes in the sky, three or four stripes.

The phone conversation with my mom broke, I realized the shell hit the city, the city center.

I ran to my car and drove there.

Militia tried to stop me, they said the airplanes were still circling and there would be another attack.

But I forced my way through.

As you will see in the video, mom asked for help.

It was horrible. Many people died.

The ground floor was heavily damaged, a shell hit there.

Another shell hit the second floor, and another hit the third.

There were big holes in the ground all over the park, shell craters.

Shell fragments lay all over the place.

Today is June 2, 2014.

My mom died on the way to the hospital.”

Her mom was Inna Vladimirovna Kukurudza, 48 years old, a social worker. She was a human being who believed in compassion. She was murdered by the contract killers of politicians who later met “world leaders” and joked and laughed and made more deals for military contracts – to kill more people like her.  She was not a real person to the government of Kyiv, she was a “Putinist” and “a terrorist” because she voted against them in a local referendum on May 11, and because she is an ethnic Russian. The government in Kyiv have a licence to kill civilians in the east of Ukraine because the Western totalitarian leaders have many lies to hide – worst of them being that they backed neo-nazis to power during the power reshuffle back in February. Their EuroMaidan was a huge propaganda operation, which pushed people who are connected to neo-nazi organizations to power.

Inna Vladimirovna Kukurudza was one of the 8 civilians killed by the government of Kyiv on June 2, 2014 in a bombardment against the city of Lugansk.

All the people killed in the airstrike against the public administration building in the center of Lugansk were civilians, most of them were women. People injured inside the building almost burned alive in a fire that started after the bombing.

At seconds 0:03, 0:05, 0:08, 0:12, 0:15, 0:23, 0:27 in this video, you can see repeated cannon fire then at 0:22 another projectile being fired over the city center of Lugansk. This proves that this airstrike was not unintentional, or a mistake, it was deliberate.

This video captured the destruction inside the building.

When medics took her to the hospital, Inna was still breathing; she died on the way there. These are six videos which captured the aftermath of the bombardment by the government of Kyiv against the city of Lugansk. They are among the few which were not deleted by youtube. Yet.

These are the civilians some mainstream media in the west are not keen on talking about. While this crime against humanity was committed by the Kyiv government against the people of Lugansk, at the border there was heavy fighting between the government’s National Guard (Right Sector recruits, indoctrinated and trained by the neo-nazis like Parubiy and Yarosh into believing that the Russian population in the east are “occupants” and “enemies of the nation”) and armed locals in the east; there are mercenaries on both sides, but mainstream media reports only about those on the rebels’ side.

The rebels, called “terrorists” by the government of Kyiv, attacked a border check-point; previously they shot down at least one helicopter. The government launched 150 airstrikes against Lugansk on June 2, 2014, in what they call an “anti-terrorist operation,” ATO, which in fact is brutal military repression against a disobedient population in the Russian speaking dominated east. The government launched airstrikes against the Locomotive Plant in Lugansk.

The government of Kyiv later reported “mission accomplished” – that meaning that they “wiped out” the rebels. But later it came to light that they actually retreated from the area after the rebels overtook some of their men – it’s not clear if they surrendered on their own or were captured. (On May 22, Kyiv soldiers deployed at a checkpoint in Lugansk surrendered on their own.) There were loses on both sides. The incumbent president of the country — put in this chair after they confiscated state power on February 22, he is to leave office on Sunday when the new oligarch-president Poroshenko will be put in power– said they will consider imposing “martial law” in Lugansk and Donetsk – this means they want a free hand to kill anyone they want with impunity. It will be a full display of state terrorism, which is just beginning in the east of Ukraine. The Kyiv propaganda is urging a total wipe out of the “terrorists” in the east, but they make no distinction between civilians and armed men. Actually, they are not interested in making any.

The person who announced that “ATO” will continue in the east for a long time – and lots of money, 3 million a day – is some hotshot in the presidential administration of Kyiv, and during the EuroMaidan he was caught with automatic riffles in the truck of his car.

Sergei Pashinsky also lied during the local referenda held by the Donbass people; he actually said that “nobody voted” in these referenda (EU’s Catherine Ashton claimed that they lacked “democratic legitimacy” – that meaning their approval, not people voting for what they wanted, defying the threats of the armed thugs of the government of Kyiv). However, on May 25th, an official in Lugansk was murdered by Kyiv’s men because he opposed opening polling stations for the state presidential elections.

These are traces left by the projectiles fired by the war plane of the Kyiv government in the park near the building where 8 passers-by were killed in the bombardment of June 2, 2014.

The pathological liars of the Kyiv government

For once, the Kyiv government is right: “Terrorists bombed Lugansk,” they claimed. This was their first reaction to the bombardment of Lugansk. Indeed, there were terrorists who bombed Lugansk: the terrorists are those in the government and state armed forces apparatus in Kyiv. They’ve terrorized the population in the east for months now. (Terrorism is imposing a policy or decision by inflicting terror on the civilian population, quite common when the IMF is around). The first reaction of the government in Kyiv seems always to be to blame one’s side for killing their own – this was also their reaction to what they’ve done in Odessa and Mariupol.

The propaganda channels of the Kyiv government accused the rebels – which they call “terrorists” – of killing the civilians in the city they control; local population occupied the building bombed a month ago. They keep denying that a war plane of the Kyiv government bombed the city, in spite of all images which prove the contrary. In Odessa they did the same: they accused the victims they massacred of burning themselves alive.

This is typical of the Kyiv government’s propaganda, which is controlled by the Right Sector — first they said there was no war plane, and that “terrorists” bombed their own; then they said there was no bombing from any aircraft, because “the explosion” occurred inside the public administration building — as ATO spokesperson claimed — ; then they said it was a Russian plane bombing the Russian-speaking population in Lugansk, then they said they did not do it. The Ukrainian media said that the bombing was done by “illegal armed forces” (rebels) who tried to fire at “the Ukrainian air force, but instead hit the window of the building.”

They call the bombing “a fire,” which is pretty much what the mainstream media reported too.

When even OSCE admitted that there was an airstrike, the Kyiv government propaganda claimed they were lying because “the rebels” were holding some of their personnel in captivity. OSCE said, “rockets hit the occupied regional administration building. Based on the SMM’s limited observation these strikes were the result of non-guided rockets shot from an aircraft. The number of casualties is unknown. A number of Luhansk city and region inhabitants tried to escape the combat zone. The SMM learned that trains to Kharkiv and Kyiv appeared to be fully booked for the next couple of days.”

These people are refugees of war – for the simple reason that the government of Kyiv is shelling, firing at them, and killing them for months in Slaviansk,Krasny Liman,Kramatorsk, and again now in Lugansk, after the Kyiv government committed massacres against the civilian populations in Odessa and Mariupol.

The Kyiv propagandists outdid themselves however when they invented the story about the rocket being fired at the building controlled by rebels by an invisible “terrorist” with a RPG on his shoulder, in broad daylight. They argued that on the surveillance camera there can be seen a flame – the moment when the rocket was fired and seconds later the big explosion further down on the street. This is what Yarosh said it happened, and their propaganda channels insist even now that it’s what happened. They invented “a terrorist” who was firing at a building the people of Lugansk took control over a month ago. It made sense to them that rebels bomb the buildings they controlled. Nobody saw this shooter because he did not exist.

What did exist was a war plane of the Kyiv government bombing the city. This war plane was seen by dozens and filmed by some, while it bombed the civilian population of Lugansk. Here are some pics from this video, where you can see clearly it’s not a mistake.

airstrike lugansk june 2 2014 aircraft

This is the war plane which bombed Lugansk on June 2, 2014.

This is another video of the war plane bombing the city center of Lugansk:

This video records the shelling during the night that followed after the bombing of the city center of Lugansk on June 2:

The pics below are taken from the images recorded by a surveillance camera- they recorded different moments in time when different projectiles hit the city center. Kyiv propaganda said the flame at the second 0:36 was “proof” that a rocket from a RPG was fired by an invisible man in the park – he must be invisible because nobody saw him. In fact 0:36 was the moment when the first projectile hit the park. Then others hit.

There were more projectiles fired in this area by the Kyiv government airplane –  their moment of impact is different in time. The person who filmed the video we posted above filmed at least 8 rounds of fire – among one is a rocket. It took 23 seconds to fire them – that video is not edited. It does not mean this is all that the war plane fired – it is only what has been filmed.

On the images captured by the surveillance camera in the center of Lugansk, you can also see more projectiles — falling at different moments in time — , which is consistent with the canon fire by the Ukrainian government airplane.  tc_projectiles park

CNN talked to an expert who said that ”whatever detonations hit the building and the adjoining park came from the air. The tops of trees were splintered, and a series of small craters — about a dozen — had been blasted in a straight line, starting in the park and reaching the walls of the building, blowing out many of its windows and spraying the area with jagged shrapnel. That’s what appears to have killed most of the victims and injured 20 more. The pattern of the craters clearly indicated some sort of strafing, according to a munitions expert at the scene with CNN. Their size suggested 30-millimeter ordinance, he said, which is standard equipment on the Su-25, a ground attack fighter, and the Su-27 — both combat aircraft operated by Ukraine.” Source

The next day after they bombed civilians in the center of Lugansk, the United States promised more “military help” for Kyiv, which is planning to impose martial law in Donetsk and Lugansk – that is, getting a free hand at killing.

Anyone contradicting the self-victimizing propaganda of the aggressor Kyiv government, or if you dare look at facts, you must know they will immediately say that it is “Russian propaganda” – because for them reality and facts are only those they can use to pursue more death in the east — their nazis post on their pages calls to “burn the Moskali, and kill them in the name of jesus christ,” and express joy at the thought of exterminating the civilian population in the east. There is armed resistance against them  in the east, but these most of these fighters are locals who took up arms after Kyiv announced they would use military might against them; it is not them executing children and passers-by in Slaviansk. The Kyiv government has attacked the civilian population with tanks, helicopters, and have shot civilians in their cars on their way home, at their balcony for looking at them, and they have shelled schools, hospitals, factories, they have bombed peasants’ homes in villages. (Just a reminder: the “European values promoters” nazis in the government of Kyiv had guns at EuroMaidan since December 2013, as it was admitted publicly by their cult leader Yarosh.)

The Kyiv government needs to be seen as “the victim” – this is why they attack anyone pointing facts at them. They need to be pictured in the public opinion in the West as “victims”, while they constantly incite crimes against the Russian speaking population in the east. They even expressed joy at the massacre their nazis committed in Odessa on May 2, 2014, and fascist Svoboda politicians have called for all of the Russian speaking population be shot –  see what we blogged about the Odessa massacre.

They have been killing civilians at large in the east, but the attack in Lugansk has been documented and it shows their real agenda in this “pacification” operation in the east, which they also use as pretext to build a separate 60,000 strong army under the control of nazis like Yarosh and Parubiy and the head of the SBU, the secret service of Ukraine.

This is Aleksander Ott, from Starovarvarivka village, watching his wife’s grave being dug, next to their child. Lena and their son, Pavel, were killed by the Ukrainian government armed forces who fired at them in their car. It is not known how many people were just executed like this by the armed thugs of the Kyiv government in the east, but it is known that, except some mercenaries, most armed fighters against Kyiv are residents of Eastern Ukraine – peasants, workers, and more and more women. Read more about how the government of Ukraine destroyed Alekdander Ott’s family on Al Jazeera‘s site.

Media covering up for the Kyiv killings

Read it all here: “No doubt the BBC considered that by reporting both claims it was being even-handed, but even a minimal amount of fact-checking would have allowed it to determine which claim was objectively correct.

The Guardian newspaper did not even attempt to present two sides to the story. It repeated the government claim that rebels had killed the civilians with an anti-aircraft missile and omitted any information about aircraft.

North American media were barely interested in the story.

Close observation of recent Western reporting on Ukraine reveals a clear pattern: when the Ukrainian government or its supporters kill civilians, this is consistently downplayed or ignored. When incidents are reported at all, the media’s framing obscures agency and thus responsibility for what has happened. Such reporting causes the public to view international events through a distorted lens, which contributes to the production of foreign policy based on ignorance.” Source

The intervention of the US and EU imperialist powers is a highly dangerous provocation from the point of view of the genuine interests, not only of all Ukrainians but also of the workers and middle classes of Europe and North America. It is part of their more general policy of an aggressive militarized offensive against their Russian imperialist rival. Although Russia is much weaker in all respects than the USA and, economically, weaker than the EU, Western policy has allowed Putin to pose as the defender of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine. However, their interests are completely subordinate to his strategic goal, which is to maintain a buffer between Russian territory and NATO’s already advanced front line. If Eastern Ukrainians put their fate in his hands, they are heading for catastrophe.” read more, here: “Counterrevolution and resistance in Ukraine”

The people in Ukraine who are suffering due to the current conflict between the opposing forces are getting stuck in the crossfire of nationalist militarism. The only people who stand to benefit from such a situation are oligarchs and far-right extremists on both sides. —  read it all here: “Ukraine: Anti-Fascism Not Russian Nationalism | Insights on the Donetsk Situation and the Crisis in Ukraine — Political profiles of the Donetsk Movement of the Donetsk People’s Republic”.

Also this:  “The Left Opposition consistently downplays the right wing nationalist character of the forces in the Kyiv regime, demanding recognition of its “legitimacyand painting its opponents as Russian separatists, if not agents of Putin.”

After the Odessa Massacre, Nazis Colonize State Armed Forces – Behind Ukraine’s Walls Of Fire (II)

Continued from part I, see also the video blog

Under the cover of a wall of fire, inside the Trade Union building on Kulikovo square, scores of people were butchered to death in Odessa on May 2, 2014. The survivors were arrested and beaten by their aggressors on the way to the police vans and even inside the police vans. The victims have been blamed for their own deaths. The victims were called “terrorists” by the Right Sector‘s propaganda machine.

RS euromaidan accusing victims of being terrorists Odessa

Government propaganda posted by one of the neo-nazi Right Sector channels. “Citizens” are the ultras and the Right Sector who attacked and burned down the trade union building – they already knew weapons were hidden in the building, though investigators discovered those later. “There is a fire in the building” – is manipulation: they set up the building on fire. This is quite a telling example of how they pursued their propaganda about the EuroMaidan, and their propaganda after they got to power. Of course the victims were labeled “terrorists”, so that Right Sector’s crimes could be justified as “citizens’ defence.”

On May 2, 2014, “the city of shadows” saw one of the worst atrocities since the pogroms of the past. People from Odessa related the massacre at the trade union building with Khatyn where a Nazi battalion, formed mostly of Ukrainian nationalists from Western Ukraine, exterminated the entire population of a village in Belarus. During World War II, the Romanian Nazi occupation army committed one of the worst massacres of the past century in Odessa where they exterminated over 100,000 Jews – then blamed it on the victims

r 1

By some optical illusion, some see only what suits their propaganda or war mongering. Those who butchered and burned people alive in Odessa are praised by the civilized world as “law enforcers.” Just like the Tsarist massacre from “Battleship Potemkin” never happened on the staircase of Odessa, but some still believe it did, the massacre at Kulikovo Trade Union building did happen for real and hardly anyone wants to admit it.

First, Right Sector set on fire the tents of the anti-government protestors…

…while some entered the building, beating and shooting those inside.

People in the building were from Odessa and two other Ukrainian localities. The Kyiv government said they were “Russian agents.” Neo-nazi Right Sector said they were “terrorists.”

Right Sector inside the building before they set it on fire.

To cover up for the nazis, the government said the people inside set themselves on fire. Image captures a Molotov thrown at the people inside by Right Sector.

Later the government had to admit the evidence – that people were shot inside the building, but nobody is looking for the criminals.

Red armbands, supposedly against the Kyiv government. They are believed to have been provocateurs infiltrated among the anti-Kyiv protestors – police allowed them to clash with Kyiv’ ultras, which were also helped by police.

On May 2, the government launched a military offensive to quell a rebellion in the industrial east. Government in Kyiv is inciting hatred towards miners on strike and disobedient residents, by lying that they are “Russian agents”.

right sector_the sword and the cross

Neo-nazi holy war propaganda: “The sword and the cross”; they relate it the Bible, “I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.”

John Kerry from the State Department with – at that time – one of the richest capitalist in Ukraine, who was elected president on May 25; he was called “CEO of the Revolution”, he was among those who financed the EuroMaidan.

The defining element of the nazis propaganda can be clearly seen when the images of the “humanitarian” nazis, while they were publicly executing people, will be later used by the Right Sector to support their claim that they were actually “the saviors,” when in fact they have done the killings.

This video shows people fallen from the building on fire being clubbed on the ground.

This massacre was everything Odessa was not. But, it was everything the people in power in Kyiv meant it to be. It’s like they are really trying to convince people in Ukraine they can’t live with each other anymore. Their prime-minister – who had worked for the IMF – has said, ”We are at war with Russia. This is a type of new war. We are a war cabinet.

[It took the Kyiv government almost two months to admit that, after Crimea’s referendum to join Russia, the first thing they did was to take their weaponry from Crimea to use it now to kill civilians in the east (Russia recognized it was the property of Ukraine): “aircrafts – 75 units, ships – 32 units, automobiles – 1341 unit, missile and artillery – 120 units, armored vehicles (tanks and IFV) – 121 units, communications and equipment – 201 units, operational support equipment – 302 units, logistical equipment – 400 units, etc.” These weaponry is used against the civilian population in the east; the military occupation and invasion started only after it was in the possession of Kyiv government. All this happened while the Kyiv government was asking NATO for “help” – they were asking for a full scale war IN Ukraine (meaning against civilians in Ukraine) – because Russian forces were supposedly “invading” their country. Source

After they got to power in Kyiv, the Right Sector propaganda started to spread old maps with their country extending over Russia’s current territory, and what they mean is to be found in all their war sermons at their training camps long before the EuroMaidan.]

This image was captured by Reuters mid-March during the training of neo-nazi Right Sector (aka National Guard) on one of the premises of the ministry of interior.

In fact, they are at war with their own population, who might not accept what the IMF wants to do to them: intolerable increase in gas prices, electricity bills, cuts in essential social services, unemployment. Then, there are the oligarchs’ gang (capitalist class) fights among each other. However, here’s a map for Yatsenuyk and his lying neo-nazi Parubiy who, at the time of this pathetic war mongering interview, knew very well that Ukrainian soldiers killed each other, he still claimed foreign aggressors did.

They’re not “at war with Russia,” but with the population within Ukraine’s borders. Elected president, Petro Poroshenko, who was Kyiv’s negotiator during the Crimea crisis, threatens the local population there to inflict economic sanctions because they voted – until proven otherwise – against Kyiv. He also said they will “disarm” Donbass. So, get this: if a worker goes on strike, the government in Kyiv calls him “a Russian agent” – this was reported by a “liberated” Ukrainian television network. Meanwhile he is the one with business interests in Russia. Now the government in Kyiv plans to end the self-proclaimed republics in Lugansk and Donetsk by 4th, respectively 14th June. This means they will unleash more indiscriminate terror against civilian populations, who are already treated as “insurgents.” Hundreds have been executed at point blank, bombed, shelled, shot, gunned down, schools and hospitals have been bombed, and blocs of flats are bombed. Before elections he promised a referendum on federalization. Two days after the elections he delivered tanks and bombs, and armed thugs killing civilians at random.

Kyiv is mainly responsible for radicalizing the rebellion in the east – it was the government in Kyiv who alienated, attacked, insulted, mocked and turned the eastern population into scapegoats. Villagers and residents in the cities stopped tanks with their bare hands. Then, some armed themselves.

Photo journalist Andrea Rocchelli was killed by government forces (they deny it). This was his last photo: children of Slavyansk taking refuge in a cellar when their town was bombed by “peace and security” forces deployed against civilians in the east by the Kyiv government.

Svoboda‘s leader demanded the death penalty or jail for life for dissenters whom he calls “separatists.” The government calls anyone a “separatist” and “terrorist” who has a legitimate problem with them. Whether they want to remain in Ukraine or they want to split, all dissenters in the east are against the chauvinistic government in Kyiv.

“Separatists”? The separatists are the ones who demanded in the Western media that Ukraine should split up, because it would be “the best thing.” Here are some of them:
– Alexander Motyl, “a professor at Rutgers University and an expert on Ukrainian affairs” saying that splitting Ukraine “might just be the best thing that could happen.” (The Atlantic, February 20, 2014)
– Eugene Rumer, “It would be better to split Ukraine than to tear it apart.” (Financial Times, May 8, 2014)
– May 3, Forbes: “Break Ukraine in Two”: “Splitting Ukraine on a mutually agreed border that starts with the Crimean peninsula, can allow Russia to annex the breakaway portions if it so chooses.”
Yatsenuyk used the Russia-scare to imply support for Svoboda’s demands that Ukraine gets the nuclear weapon. Earlier, some capitalist media even said that a nuclear confrontation with Russia “has to be done:
The Economist”, February 22-28, 2014, said that a nuclear confrontation with Russia is “difficult but it has to be done.” Fascist Svoboda plans to get the nuclear weapon – it’s in their program – and end of May, the secret service SBU boss (a Neo-nazi himself) declared that Ukraine has “the right and might consider, restoration of nuclear weapon,” and use it for “diplomatic purposes.”
It’s not for nothing they remind of Dr. Strangelove: “Though clearly a minority, Ukraine’s neo-Nazis remain a potent force that is well-organized, well-motivated and prone to extreme violence, whether throwing firebombs at police in the Maidan or at ethnic Russians trapped in a building in Odessa. As vengeance now seeks vengeance across Ukraine, this Nazi imperative will be difficult to hold down, much as Dr. Strangelove struggled to stop his arm from making a “Heil Hitler” salute.” Source

Last month, the interim president Oleksandr Turchynov reinstated the military draft, now recruits are forced to serve in the National Guard too. Parubiy repeatedly asked the United States for military help against the civilian population in his own country. Days after they came to power, using the Russia scare they themselves fuel constantly, Andriy Parubiy and his lieutenant, Yarosh, have called for “a wartime mass mobilization” and insisted they are preparing for ”a war with Russia.” Yarosh has called for a guerrilla war in Crimea, which is now in the territory of Russia, hoping that Moscow won’t back down and attack them this time. While Putin had said Russia respects the results of the May 25th elections, Svoboda calls for more bloodshed. Svoboda’s normalized Neo-nazi boss describes the former regime in Ukraine in words that would better fit their own. He never mentions that they kidnap anyone they want in broad daylight from the streets of Ukraine. Svoboda’s leader never mentioned such interesting realities like that in Lvov, for instance, if youngsters want to socialize they are forced to submit to the Neo-nazi ideology of some local pubs – if they don’t adhere to it, they are denied access. Since day one, they have been at war with the people living and working in Ukraine. Odessa made that obvious.

Politicians and officials from Kyiv and the Western world, as well as Western mainstream media shamelessly blamed the massacre on the victims and said they set themselves on fire (the government said, “The cause of fire House of Trade Unions in Odessa could be Molotov cocktails thrown from the roof”; bloggers disseminated that; Washington Post published it; then some apologist for the massacre blamed the victims; media in Ukraine said the same thing — these are just a few examples). After the massacre, the killers sang patriotic songs, to show their love for their fatherland. Right Sector thugs rejoyced. Politicians from Svoboda even called for more killings.

White supremacy cross on fence on the backside of the building.

The Nazis left behind their signatures: the destroyed House of the Trade Unions was covered in Wolfsangel and white supremacy crosses (pseudo-swastikas). By some self-inflicted blindness, the Western reporters, who were there, did not see them. The government has not admitted that the Right Sector were deployed in Odessa, but the Right Sector’s propaganda has done that for them. EuroMaidanPR are the official channels of the Right Sector, and by some of their postings they officially admitted — “EuroMaidan people save separatists from fire” – that they were in Odessa at the burning of the Trade Union building. In another video, they posted, a ”pro-Ukrainian activist” which is one of the captains of the Right Sector squads: in the video linked he is reporting the situation in Odessa — he’s name is Mykola. What he says is the same as it was published by most mainstream media in the West. (He’s the link between the security officials in Kyiv and the Odessa massacre, we’ll discuss this below).

The people butchered and torched inside the building were killed by the law enforcement Nazi thugs of the Kyiv government. It’s not we who call them ”law enforcers” – but Yulia Tymoshenko, Barack Obama and other politicians from Kyiv. These law enforcers and patriots were presented mostly as ultras from Kharkov. Is this how the Neo-Nazis have been colonizing the cities – like they do now with state power positions – up to the point where ultras become their political armies?

On the same day that ultras, controlled and guided by Neo-nazis, went to Odessa to send a message of ”peace and security” (as the current prime-minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, explained the military invasion in the industrial East), the Kyiv government has sent an army with tanks and helicopters to invade and quell a rebellion. In the industrial East, people have been protesting after the new Kyiv ruling power imposed its oligarchs as their local governors. It’s in Kyiv where you hear ruling party politicians calling for the extermination of the population of the east – because they are Russian – it’s there where businessmen go on the stage of the EuroMaidan (March 10, 2014) and demand that the ”Russians” be shot in the head. It’s there where schoolchildren are indoctrinated to jump and shout: ”Kill the Moskali” (derogatory term for Russians).

On May 2, 2014, Odessites were trapped inside the Trade Union building, and executed with guns (gun fire can be heard very clearly, at 2:24), or beaten to death, or burned alive. Here, at 4:54, there is blood on the floor, proof that a person was beaten to death. Here, at time code 6:02, a person has just been killed, laying on a pool of blood. Here in another graphic video, a pile of dead bodies is filmed inside the building – all of them residents of Ukraine. Bodies are covered in blood, which means they were beaten to death. Here, there are other bodies. They found no Russian ID: at time code 43:56 in the video, they say that ID belongs to a student from Ukraine, one of the victims. In the same video, there are other bodies, some look like they could have been tortured: the blood and the cable at 45:18, and another dead man at 45:34. There are many others – who were not killed by fire or bullets, or smoke, but murdered. It seems that not all jumped from the windows, some were thrown out the windows. The burned body of a woman was found in a position that suggests she might have been raped.

[The most common accusation from Kyiv against people in Odessa is that the Russian side are Russians: “Something strongly denied by them, see them explaining why in interviews before the massacre, here.]

Initially, the government in Kyiv said people in the building died from the smoke caused by the fire in front of the building (a lie), or that they set themselves on fire inside the building (a lie). Later, the government in Kyiv admitted just what was way too obvious to deny anymore: that 6 people were shot dead, and they claim that 32 were killed by smoke and some gas, and that 10 ”have jumped” from the windows to escape fire. 7 women and a minor (initially they denied there were children in the building) were among the 46 killed people the official death toll of the Odessa massacre. They still have not identified 3 bodies. All those killed were from Odessa and two other localities in Ukraine. Initially, the government claimed they were „Russians from Crimea or Transdniester” clashing with “the peaceful ultras“, when in fact there were are images filmed (here, at 1:22:53) that actually prove that those participating in the killings at the Kulikovo building were part of two new battalions of the National Guard (Right Sector), stationed in Dnepropetrovsk and Odessa, and probably plain clothes policeEven the Unites States’ ambassador said they have no proof that Russia was involved at Odessa. Witness say however the death tool could be much bigger (some speak of 116 people).

What the government still does not admit is what can be seen on the images filmed during the massacre: some people, fallen on the ground from the building on flames, have been beaten to death afterwards (here, at 2:30 and 2:45). Some were beaten to death inside the building. On all the images posted on the internet you can hear gunshots. The government admits they found two pistols inside the building, Molotov cocktails and cans containing residues of flammable substance, and many types of weapons. Among the weapons filmed were machete – the pro-government supporters slashed off the leg of a man on the streets of Odessa (here, at time code 1:00 and 2:28), before the massacre. There is another video with a woman – anti-government – captured by the pro-government supporters on the backside alley of the building right when they invaded and surrounded the House of the Trade Unions. A man in white shirt, (here, at time code 0:21) behind her, is holding a machete – the woman is paralyzed by fear. The cameraman probably saved her life.

In another video, filmed in the back of the building on fire, a girl and another woman scream inside the burning building (at 22.48 and 23.48). The entire video, which is graphic, is translated here. This time, the screams lasted longer and the crowd started to chant to cover up the agony breaking through the walls of fire: ”Glory to Ukraine!” ”Glory to her heroes!” This chant was inherited from the Nazis of Bandera, who in the ’40s tortured and killed Ukrainians, Poles and Jews and who today they are praised as ”national heroes” or nationalists (the photos published here are graphic, they show the victims of Stepan Bandera’s nazis – Ukrainians, Poles and Jews – being tortured, raped, and killed). In the ’80s, Reagan’s administration started the rehabilitation of the Nazis in Eastern Europe, Ukraine too. Bandera was transformed from a Nazi killer – who massacred people, in ways that shocked even Hitler’s army – into a national hero. He also colonized the police, just like Right Sector does these days, (see excerpt from the study on OUN-B at the end of the blog).
[“The leader of the Svoboda party went to Germany to protest the prosecution of John Demjanjuk, who was the Ukrainian who was settled in the United States who was implicated as a concentration camp guard in the killing of innocent people. The German courts found him guilty, and the Svoboda leadership went to Germany to complain about convicting this guy. The reason? They said they didn’t want any Ukrainians tainted with it, because they live a lie: that no Ukrainian had anything to do with the German Nazi regime, when history betrays them, and their own affiliations betray them. But they don’t like that being out there publicly, so they always protest the innocence of any Ukrainian being charged with anything, regardless of what the evidence is.” Source]

The staunchest supporter of this “denazification” (the normalization of Nazism) is today the boss of the secret services, and police and army forces in Ukraine – Andriy Parubiy. Parubiy was a co-founder of a nazi party in 1991, which now is called Svoboda. Nowadays he is a member of the Tymoshenko’s Fatherland, the main current ruling party in Kyiv. Parubiy was the commandant of Euromaidan, which led to the reshuffle of those in power in Kyiv – he was the coordinator of the “volunteer security corps” in Kyiv.

Marching for a massacre

Who were the people the Neo-nazis massacred inside the trade union building? ”Terrorists” (according to the Right Sector Neo-nazis’s official channel), ”separatists” (as the interior minister wrote on his Facebook page) and ”pro-Russian militants” (according to the Western media), ”Russians”, acording to Ukraine’ secret service, SBU. Later, the government had to admit they were all residents of Ukraine.

One of the first pictures of the massacre which was published on the internet was that of a pregnant woman seemingly dead, suspended over a desk. It was presented as the woman whose agonizing screams are heard on the video. But forensics denied there was a pregnant woman among the dead. Media immediately reported the story was fake implying the screams of the woman being murdered were fake too; they are not at all since the witnesses confirm them when they insult the victim.

From the building the police sealed for two days, bodies were still missing. Even media in Ukraine – which is mostly pro-Kyiv government -reported that 48 people are still missing from the Odessa “fire” (they don’t call it a massacre). Forensics also denied there were children among the dead, though two boys were filmed alive, inside the building, together with their mother, at a window of the first floor, before the Nazis torched it (in this video, time code 1:12:38- 1:12:41). Another woman who survived the massacre saw them alive in the room that was later torched. Forced to acknowledge their existence, the officials admitted they were among the wounded in the hospital. The parents of a 17 year old boy helplessly watched their son burning alive inside the building.

The official death toll so far is of 46 killed, witnesses say actually 116 people were murdered in the massacre inside the building. The Western mainstream media reported exclusively the governments’ official story.

Before they got to Odessa on May 2, 2014, the “peacefulultras from Kharkov staged some real riots in their home town, and did some training for their march for Ukraine’s unity.

They don’t need much “provocation” to go beat people senselessly – just the sight of a red flag or a St.George ribbon at the hand of a person in some car will do.

These are “the peaceful ultras” who marched for Unity of Ukraine in Odessa on May 2, 2014, and clashed with their political rivals in Odessa. Nobody attacked them in Kharkov, they were the ones who beat people up, just like they did in Odessa too, when there were no clashes. The images from Kharkov are important because they show that Right Sector already has access to a force they can use however they want to control their position within the state apparatus. Like they did during the EuroMaidan, but now it’s on a much bigger scale: all over Ukraine. These images also expose some details which will be important in the context of the Odessa clashes that preceded the massacre they committed inside the Trade Union building: they don’t wear any armbands in Kharkov.

On May 2, in Odessa there were two clashes after a football game (Chernomorets Odessa/Metalist Kharkov), which happened when the ultras marched for “the unity of Ukraine.” They were some 1,500. At some point some 300 anti-government protestors (some say 100), of which some were wearing red-armbands, attacked them, or better said, the red armbands did. Only those wearing red-armbands were let by the police to go through to attack “the peaceful ultras.” The pro-Kyiv ultras were wearing armbands too. How did they know to do that, if they only wanted to have their march and no intention to be identifiable from their enemies? During the clashes, 7 people were killed – some by shots. The government propaganda claimed that only “ultras” were killed. It is not so, 3 from the side of the anti-Kyiv protestors were also killed.

“Pro-Russian” separatists firing behind the police lines during the clashes.

“Pro-Russian” separatists wearing red armband and St.George ribbon.

“Pro-Russian separatists” and police red armband during the clashes with the “peaceful” ultras.

After the clashes, the pro-Kyiv ultras and National Guard (the new para-statal force Right Sector gets incorporated into) invaded the Kulikovo square, where the anti-Kyiv activists have organized an encampment. They call their movement “anti-maidan,” and media in Odessa and some say among them there are reactionaries, and “pro-Kremlin supporters or fascists.” Anyway, some of them, about 40, were sleeping in the tents they set up in front of the House of the Trade Union. But all the other people were residents from Odessa who were coming at the camp, mostly to socialize. The fact that they existed was annoying for the Radio Free Europe correspondent who expressed her shock that people were allowed to set up tents at the Kulikovo square (tents in the Independence square in Kyiv were there until the end of May).

The ultras say the massacre just happened – but it is not so, the Right Sector were among them, and later their avatars from the National Guard were sent in; they prepared in advance the Molotovs; attacked a firefighter truck, beat the driver up, and dismantled the equipment.

They attacked some of the anti-Kyiv protestors and other people from Odessa, who were at the encampment, who retreated inside the Trade Union building. Some say that among the people at the encampment were stooges who told them to go inside the building, while a local deputy – who was killed in the massacre – kept yelling at women and children to run away, and not go inside the building. Some anti-Kyiv activists had heard rumors that the government was preparing to destroy their encampment on May Day, but they say they wanted to protect it and that they never thought they would be killed:

“According to Tetiana, there had been rumors going around for several days of an attack on the camp on May 2 by pro-government forces. The young men there said they would stay and defend it to the last. “The young ones said ‘We’re not leaving, we’ll be a memorial to the fact that Odessa will never be a fascist city,’” Tetiana said. “We wanted to help them; we thought if adults were there too it would be safer. It never occurred to us that they would kill us.”” Source

They realized that as the Right Sector and the ultras were invading the building, where they already took refuge, and when they saw others, who had been captured, beaten brutally. The pro-Kyiv stooges can be easily identified as they wear red-armbands. They are the ones who were allowed to break the police chain during the earlier clashes to attack the ultras, they were filmed entertaining with the police chief from Odessa, and being given orders by some hotshot from Kyiv. There are also pictures with them on the roof, next to some Molotovs, and one of them in a light jacket with a shield is photographed behind the barricades at the main entrance of the building. During the massacre and during the fire, pro-Kyiv thugs can be seen and heard firing and beating people up, inside the building. This means they controlled the entries into the building.

After it was done, the survivors were arrested by the police, while their attackers were praised and the new chief of Odessa police even met them when they came to demand from him explanations about why some 70 of the survivors were set free two days later. On May 4th, the families of those arrested stormed the police station, releasing them.

From what the survivors say the massacre inside the building lasted about 2 hours, with the police being present outside the building, and the firefighters saying they were blocked on their way by the Right Sector – there is a video proving that this is the case with at least one firetruck.

The massacre was at first presented by the government as “a fire” which they – and the mainstream media – blamed on the victims inside the building. Later evidence forced the government to say that “they don’t know what started the fire.” Then, the government blamed “the fire” on some strange substance. They want to call the massacre committed inside the Trade Union building “a terrorist attack,” as Petro Poroshenko and Andriy Parubiy have claimed. They claim this substance is the reason people died so suddenly inside the building – just not to utter a single word that they were shot, beaten to death, strangled and burned alive by their supporters. If a strange substance was used, it was probably done by their supporters to cover up the bullet wounds. While they “investigated” this substance, the government ”investigators” were not capable of counting how many Molotovs their supporters threw into and at the building to set it on fire, after and while some of them were murdering people inside.

Here you can see them entering the building BEFORE they set it on fire; here you can see them trying to smash a door behind which people have barricaded; and here you can see them holding clubs in their hands and entering a room from where a woman is shouting at them, then she stops.

The Kyiv government simply refuses to admit that their supporters – Nazis from Right Sector a.k.a. para-statal National Guard, financed from private funding – shot people inside the building and beat them to death, before they set the fire to cover up their crimes.

The Nazis: “Let’s save the bullets!”

A witness, who survived and was arrested, explained that they were told that on May Day their encampment in Kulikovo square would be destroyed. She too says that the people who were massacred inside the building were from Odessa. There is another woman who survived, and she talks about some anti-Kyiv government men from Odessa, equipped with sticks, no fire weapons. She too says that the Molotovs were thrown from outside, that they did not set themselves on fire, like the government and the mainstream media later said. This is her testimony of what happened while she was inside the building.

She was hiding in a room with with three other women and about twelve men when the Nazis attacked them. Two men were already dead, in another room. The men brought their bodies into their room, hoping they could still be saved. But it was too late. They managed to block the door with cupboards and chests and held the door for about 20 minutes. During this time, the barricaded 16 people heard shots in the hallway. Then someone punched the door and asked them to let them in, lying that they were pro-autonomy (anti-Kyiv government) activists. After some deliberation, they decided to crack the door open just to see if this was so. Then, the Right Sector started to attack the door with clubs. The woman looked one of the thugs in the eyes. He was wearing a black mask. He pointed a gun at her and fired, then told the others laughing: “I killed a Colorado!” (Colorado beetle is what the Nazis are calling the anti-Kyiv government people, and not just because the colors of their ribbon, but because see them as bugs to be crushed). But he missed, the bullet did not hit the woman. Then, the thugs threw teargas grenades in their room and they could hold the door just for some minutes. “They managed to break the door and entered the room. Then they immediately shot all men, and those they could not kill on the spot, they beat to death. They said: “Let’s save the bullets.” “These beasts were beating even the two men who were already dead, although the women were screaming to stop that they were not alive.” Then they heard them say they must take the bodies to the basement. The women begged for mercy. The witness told them she had a little child. The Nazis interrogated her for about 15 minutes. They demanded that “she told the truth: that she was Russian.” But she showed them a Ukrainian passport and her residence was Odessa. The women were taken out on the hallway. They saw many bodies, everywhere, even on the stairs. Some nazis were dragging the dead towards the basement. She said many disappeared.

Then they grabbed one of the four women and shoved her into a room. The witness could hear her scream… and then nothing. She said she caught a moment where they were busy, and escaped from the building. Outside she already saw the firefighters and the police. The fire brigade arrived after an hour and a half, though their station is straight across the Trade Union building. And then this woman says: “All Ukrainian politicians in Kyiv praised the massacre.”

A pro-Kyiv government paper published the testimonies of two other witnesses who never mentioned the gun fires, which can be heard on all videos.

How to cover up a massacre

The first information about the massacre in Odessa represented the first official version of the governments story: it said almost nothing about the massacre (what they call “a fire”), and a lot about clashes between ultras and anti-Kyiv activists (about which there is information that they are very reactionary). In spite of the fact that evidence, which totally blew it away, was constantly popping up on the internet – from witnesses and people who filmed outside and inside the building – the mainstream media continued to back up the government’s story. This is an interesting account which says that “both sides set the building on fire” (but the nazis are filmed constantly throwing Molotovs inside the building) and that “the anti-maidan” activists were not the “leftists” imagined by the West, but actually reactionaries and fascists; they also say that indeed the “ultras” march was attacked by “the anti-maidan activists,” which allows them to them rationalize and justify the massacre. These accounts totally ignore any responsibility on behalf of the nazis supported by the Kyiv government, who were the ones who committed the massacre and who are walking free. They were not all “peaceful ultras,” as the accounts say, but they geared up ready to fight, and they also had weapons because they did shoot people inside the Trade Union building, before they set it on fire.

This is what the government said, and the mainstream media repeated without doubts, that happened on May 2, 2014 in Odessa – see here, here, here, and here, while they constantly attempted to whitewash the nazis- :

There was a football match. Pro-government ultras (most of them from Kharkov) and and pro-Russian separatists (as the government and the media defined them) clashed. The ultras set off to march “for the unity of Ukraine.” Being such good ultras, they came equipped to fight, with shields and all that. The pro-Russian separatists came all geared up too. The pro-Russian separatists attacked the good pro-government ultras. There were two fights taking place about the same time, in different places downtown Odessa.

The police are seen protecting the pro-Russian separatists – wearing distinctive red armbands – who shoot automatic riffles from behind the police lines.

There are some snipers too: before they fire, they throw stones at their victims so they can be very well seen and filmed. It seems like these snipers do everything possible to be seen. Of course, they all wear red armbands – the identification sign of the pro-Russian separatists.

These armbands are important because they prove that both sides were previously organized, so there was nothing spontaneous about it, like the people who later attacked the Kulikova camp pretend. How the bad pro-Russian separatists knew to wear armbands, just like the good pro-Kyiv government ultras? Could it be because there was one entity which organized both groups? Why the red armbands and not just St. George Ribbon, which is what the anti-Kyiv supporters wear? Some cops also wear red armbands, so that later police could be singled out and blamed for the whole thing. Conveniently enough, the red armband wearing bad guys are seen collaborating with the police. But the pro-Kyiv ultras get instructions too in front of a police station: in this video at 9:12 a security man enters a police station, while somebody who seems like some nazi captain is lecturing the fighters in front of the police.

A high police official – supposedly against the bad pro-Russian separatists – is filmed giving instructions to the red armband wearing pro-Russian separatists, so “they don’t mess up their tasks”:

– You have to clearly understand which troop undertakes what task. That’s why, you, see, we always have problems.

Like with the snipers coordinated by Parubiy, when some of them fired upon protestors back in February Kyiv – that sort of “problems”? (see here at 3:00) Or like the EuroMaidan coordinator shouting from the mic on the stage at the EuroMaidan: “Guys, don’t shoot each other in the back! Pay attention!” – that sort of “problem”? (see here at 5.30)

There were Nazis in Odessa, organizing people: this video shows one of them at 6:22, when he emerged from a street and behind him some cops appeared. Then again at 7:24 he is organizing people. The armband he wears proves he is from the Youth Nationalist Congress – some of the most brutal para-statal nazi squads – who also made up the 14th sotni (or sotnya which means 100, this is how the self-defenses groups coordinated by Parubiy were organized at the Euromaidan). This proves that the 14th sotni were in Odessa – and it is important because the sotni‘s supreme commander was Parubiy, currently the hotshot in the Kyiv security apparatus.

Of course, the government later came up with all sorts of stories to justify why the chief of police from Odessa went missing just in time – they claim he fled the country: quite convenient, the cop who was supposed to be responsible escaped the country just in time. The government says a bus full of bad Russians from Transdniester and Crimea had been stopped before entering Odessa, but some “high official in the police” ordered it released, so they could get into the city. But they have no proof, it’s just because they say so. Before the government said it was a train which arrived with bad “Russians” from Transdniester and Crimea. There also emerged a very bizarre video with some pissed off cops throwing their shields on the ground and leaving. “They got called somewhere else,” was the official explanation. There are lots of other videos that show cops running away in their cars when people are calling for them after somebody got shot next to the group of people wearing red armbands.

These clashes were reported in detail by the Western mainstream media; they avoided to do the same with the massacre inside the Trade Union building in Odessa. This report is a good example of how the governments’ story gets propagated.

Nazis doing some law enforcement

The story of the clashes was disseminated by the government like an excuse, a justification, a rationalization and even an endorsement of the massacre committed by the Nazis inside the Trade Union Building.

This video, which was edited, shows in part what happened – it’s the largest view of the massacre taking place.

At 1:04, you see that the entrance is protected by an extended roof: if Molotovs had been thrown from the roof – where an improvised device was later filmed – they would have had to defy physics laws and make a curve in the opposite direction of the fall, a U-turn, so they could get inside. That exposes another lie told by the government: that the building was set on fire by Molotovs thrown from the roof.

Then there’s the smoke. Initially, government claimed that most people in the building that died suffocated from the smoke. Forensics confirmed it. The first official statements claimed the cause of death was the smoke from the encampment, set on fire in front of the building. Images prove that the huge column of smoke 20-30 meters high was taken by the wind exactly in the opposite direction of the building: see images from 1:16 to 1:29. That means the wind is contradicting the government.

When the anti-Kyiv people were just outside the front of the entrance, the Right Sector were not going towards them either, even though the anti-Kyiv crowd outnumbered them by 1 to 30, or more. Behind the barricades set up on the main entrance stairs, there are just some 20 people. Many more are already inside the building.

Someone who could not make it to the building is beaten right before they set the encampment on fire.

At this point in time, the people inside the building were already aware that something bad was going to happen to them. Why did they not escape using the other entries – there are at least 2 other, one on the right side, another one in the back of the building. As others images prove, they tried but could not escape, because the entries were already captured by the Right Sector. Here, at minute 8, Right Sector enter the building, at 8:10 some run to the backside of the building, here 8:26, it’s proof people trapped tried to escape, the Neo-nazis shout:

They are escaping! Run to the backyard!

These people from Odessa were intentionally trapped inside the building. Images show Right Sector attackers yelling at each other to go guard all entries so “the Russians” don’t escape. In this video, at 1:20, the Right Sector encourage each other:

Burn them to hell!”

At 2:15, they yell: “Death to Russians!

Then, “Hang the Russians! Hang the Russians!” “Hang the Communists!

At 1:32 on the aerial recording shows a moment captured on other videos where there is heard a huge turmoil and lots of gun fire – the ultras in front of the building get scared: they start to run away from the building. They don’t run because of Molotovs being thrown at them. If they got so scared, you can imagine the brutality of what was happening inside the building.

After that, it’s clear that the video has been cut several times. This is important because these are the only aerial images, and they were released with a text which endorses the government’s version, “that an arson attack happened,” and that the government supporters were “attacked with fire-guns by the rivals in favor of stronger ties with Russia.” The text also implies that the people trapped inside accidentally died from the smoke, that it was “a chaos,” which is an attempt to excuse the Right Sector of any intent. It also quotes the first government version of the events: people died from the smoke and jumped from the building. This version is implicitly asserting that the Right Sector were the victims.

The aerial video, though cut, proves the contrary:

– at 2:02 a fire breaks inside the second room from the right at the third floor, flames are up to the roof of the 4-5 meters high room. A Ukrainian channel actually cut these frames and edited them to prove that the people inside the building set themselves on fire. A lie. On the aerial recording, frames after the fire inside the room breaks out, an object hits the air-conditioner below the window. The intention was clear to create the impression that the people inside the building set the room on fire, because the recording is edited so that the bottle goes unnoticed (you can see that if you look frame by frame), the cut is visible.

– at 2:22 more people come from the lateral streets.

– at 2:25 a Molotov hits a room on the right side of the building, while on the entrance stairs which are continuously pelted with Molotovs there are pro-government supporters. Two of them (one in blue and one in black) are seen waving at people in the square to call them inside the building. One door is already burning. No firefighters are seen. No police.

– at 2:31 a person is seen on the roof, holding a bat and walking on the back side.

– at 2:41 a person runs towards the entrance of the building holding a Molotov with the intent to throw it inside.

– at 2:41 another Molotov has been thrown in the upper right side of the images recorded. Then, before the Molotov can be seen landing, the video is suddenly cut – this shows a failed attempt to hide facts.

– at 2:55 riot police can be seen walking in, like nothing weird was happening around them. It’s almost a friendly walk.

– then at 3:14 the lights of a firetruck are seen. They get to actually do something an hour or so later.

– at 3:43, two people can be seen on the roof. The angle these images are filmed from gives the impression that the building was engulfed in fire, but that wall of smoke was created by the fire set up in front of the building and the wind is directing it away from the building.

What does all of this indicate?

That the intent is to fabricate a story, and the Right Sector attackers were let to massacre their victims. The political reactions regarding this massacre prove that it was meant to instill terror into the hearts and minds of the Odessites. The massacre also carries a symbolic message for the left: in Odessa they set the second Trade Union building on fire. The first one was in Kyiv (of course, they blamed the police of the former president, but it’s interesting that the fire started exactly where the Right Sector had its offices during the EuroMaidan. On their door they had written: Nazis only. Destroying the unions is what Nazis have always done, we don’t call them capitalists’ thugs for nothing.

The massacre inside at Odessa was also meant to send another message: “the purity” of the nation does not tolerate the cosmopolitan society of Odessa.

After the massacre, the police sealed the building for two days, for “investigations.” But just hours later, they did not need one. The interior ministry officials already knew that among the dead there were at least 15 Russians citizens and a few from Transdniester. This corresponded to the official story they already disseminated, during the previous clashes between “the ultras.” This proved to be a lie. The dead were all from Odessa. Later the government said “the separatists” from Russia and Transdniester were among those “arrested.” So, the Kyiv government turned to blame the police, and accused them of “selling themselves.” The ministry of interior from Kyiv got mad not that the police arrested wounded people – survivors of the massacre, that they kept them without to ask them anything more than 70 hours, but that the police let them go, when the police station was stormed by their relatives from Odessa. The ministry of interior was not mad that the police simply acted invisible during the massacre inside the Trade Union building, but that they let the survivors get out of the police arrest.

There is also another surreal scene caught on tape – police and other hotshots from the government probably having a nice and calm conversation on the backside alley in front of the burning building, while people were falling on the ground.

Nazi Police “investigating” their own

The Neo-nazis, who increasingly control and colonize law enforcement and military state structures, seem to be going after the victims, not the aggressors. ”The investigation” seems to be heading towards an official confirmation of the already disseminated government propaganda, in spite of all evidence that show that the real aggressors were on the side of the government, and that the moral responsibility is that of the ruling politicians in Kyiv.

What kind of investigation is that? On May 4th (2 days after the killings) the new police chief in Odessa, Igor Katerinchuk, endorsed the massacre in front of a Right Sector crowd, telling them implicitly that they did good because “separatism is illegal, and so it’s the (separatist) propaganda.” Basically the police chief in Odessa told the Right Sector that they applied the law when they butchered Odessites inside the trade union building. Perhaps an involuntary acknowledgment of the fact that Right Sector attacked people solely for political opinions. Among the crowd were the killers of the people inside the trade union building, who were likely pissed that the families of the survivors managed to take them out from the police station hours earlier (this event too, unlike the massacre inside at Kulikovo, was widely reported by the Western mainstream media).

The most important players involved in the investigation are the same ones involved in the military occupation in the East.

One is the boss of Ukraine’s secret service (SBU), Valentin Nalyvaychenko. He has been working with Right Sector. You can see him in this video preaching at one of the training camps of the Neo-nazis, dressed like a modern monk and saluting them with “Glory to Jesus Christ.” He is introduced by the Rambo wannabe Yarosh. SBU’s boss starts preaching patriotism indoctrination at time code 2:26. This is what he tells the future holy warriors – the meeting took place before the EuroMaidan:

Yarosh speaking: Glory to Ukraine! Dear friends, it is becoming a tradition that our camp is visited by guests and now a man who has been closely working with our organization throughout the year came to visit us. He is a public and political figure, former head of SBU, and I mean the TRUE head of SBU, Valentin Nalivaychenko, accompanied by his fellow friends. Please, come by closer. Mr. Valentin, welcome.
Valentin Nalyvaychenko, SBU boss, speaking: “Glory to Jesus Christ (fighters repeat after him: “Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Ukraine!”). Dear Tridenters (“Trident” is the name of this group), first of all I would like to express my immense support to the what you are doing. We all live in the Dark Age, the time of a complete lack of faith, and, in fact, the time of foreign occupation (he means Soviet Union, which is gone). But this is only making us stronger, and I mean by that our understanding of what should and what must be done to oppose to the occupants. Occupants (that is, Russians) can only be opposed by our own force, by the power of our own thought, by our own power of will, our faith, our state position, but cohesive and well-organized, capable of acting position. Occupation had already taken place here in the past (thanks for this opportunity, he adds), and now it has obtained the forms by which we can observe that the regime of Yanukovych has finally stepped over the line, grading the official language, continuing to embezzle state budget. The power has proclaimed itself beyond the people, beyond the law, promoted out-of-Ukraine language and neglected our own religion and culture. We understand what to do, we understand that the power plays with language law like a monkey holding a grenade. We understand that we can and we must oppose them with cohesive action, Ukrainian action, because patriotism for us is action. Parliamentary elections have proven our ability, – first of all driven by youth-nationalist congress, “State’s rejuvenation”, “Ukrainian business” and other organizations alike to show how non-party young people can join together to act. I support such unions by all means. I strongly support such action. Our goal is to achieve that on these elections, Ukrainian Front arises. A front of real Ukrainian organizations. Those patriots who know what to do and how, who can say and do what they have said, the Ukrainian thing. I call you up to continue to believe in we are doing together, in our common affair, what we are fighting for. This is our land and our values. We are fighting for Ukraine, we are fighting for a free Ukraine, for our faith, faith in God, belief that we are standing on our own land and that we will make order in our house by ourselves. With these words I would like to finish my speech and hand in the certificate to your organization. Glory to Ukraine!
Yarosh speaking: From our part (says the commander of Trident to Nalivaychenko) we would like to present you with this T-shirt with the portrait of Stepan Bandera (well-known Ukrainian terrorist, murderer and Nazi-collaborator during WWII).
Valentin Nalyvaychenko, SBU boss, speaking: This is an honor for me!”

Dmitry Yarosh – has he ever worked in his life? – is the deputy of Andriy Parubiy, the boss of the statal umbrella organizations of the police, army and secret services in Ukraine, called the National Security and Defense Council. They worked together at the EuroMaidan, and were named in state positions by the current minister of interior, four days after the power reshuffle in Kyiv back in February. After they took power, the western-backed fascist dominated coalition in Kyiv created a para-military, para-statal National Guard where they incorporate their Right Sector fighters and other Nazis to “defend the fatherland” from an imaginary war with Russia.

Parubiy’s present is profoundly related to his past: in the ’90s he was the co-founder of a replica of Hitler’s party, which later was transformed into today’s Svoboda, and he was the boss of this party’s para-military wing, the Patriots of Ukraine. Today he is a member of Fatherland. He maintained close relations with far right FN’s Jean-Marie Le Pen, as well as with other Western elites, which makes him probably such a trustable person for NATO. Since early March, he has constantly declared that they are at war with Russia. He already demanded that NATO “help” Ukraine. These pictures, printed by a Neo-nazi magazine from Ukraine, had been originally published in a 1999 book written by Parubiy. Source

He was and remains one of the most fanatic ideological supporter of Stepan Bandera, and he demanded the European Parliament back off when they were enraged Bandera was turned into a national hero. He was the commandant of Euromaidan, which led to the reshuffle of the guys in power in Kyiv – he coordinated the street fighters.

5 days after Yarosh moved his HQ to the east, on April 29, Parubiy was in Odessa on ”a working visit.” He visited a military unit and ”the self-defense units” (Right Sector), who had moved about the same time in eastern Ukraine with their boss Dmitry Yarosh: ”The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine met with the Ministry of Internal Affairs Battalion “Storm” formed with volunteers from Odessa. Andriy Parubiy also emphasized the importance of participation of community in the protection of its Motherland. “Now it is very important the participation of the community. There is success where the active rise of people is,” the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine said.” Source

He met a captain of the Neo-nazi squads, Mykola. He gave them some equipment – dozens of bullet proof vests – how did he knew they would need them?

On May 2, Mykola was filmed, shooting at people inside the burning trade union building – you can see him firing, in this video at time code 0:10, or in this video at time code 1:45:47). At the beginning of this video – where Mykola is with other Right Sector, being assisted by the local police chief, who later disappeared – somebody in military outfit – who also met Parubiy on April 29 in Odessa – is ordering the police chief of Odessa:

“- Make a corridor for us, and we’ll take care of the rest.”

Mykola meeting Parubiy in Odessa on April 29, he received equipment from Kyiv, bullet proof vests included.

Right Sector Propaganda calls him “Ukrainian activist” – he is one of them.

Odessa TUB _ bullets

The version of events in Odessa, prior to the massacre, reported by Mykola in this video is the one that had been disseminated by the media, local correspondents, and some bloggers. The video was posted by the official channel of the Right Sector, where Mykola is presented as “Ukrainian activist.”

Mykola later said he did nothing wrong, that he did not shoot at the people inside the building and that his neo-nazi thugs from Right Sector did not have any Molotov cocktails – it’s just amazing how he does not give a damn that there are tens of videos on the internet showing his thugs throwing Molotovs inside the building – and, of course, “the fire” was started by those throwing Molotovs from the roof of the building. See here at 5:47 Molotovs thrown at the building while Mykola (from time code 6:20 to 6:50) is filmed opening fire – there lots of gunfire heard, inside and outside the building, during the entirety of the footage. During the first 7 minutes of the footage, most of them seem to come from his pistol.

While this nazi pathological liar was firing real bullets at the people inside the burning building, some were trying to help people trapped inside the building – because the people trapped had told them they were from Odessa. The most violent of them, by their accent were from Kharkov, these trying to help seem to be from Odessa. This scene happened almost an hour after the massacre started. The fire station was just a few hundred meters away from the building, but the firemen were not allowed to reach Kulikovo.

Even when they turned ”humanitarian” in front of the recording cameras – helping some people who were already filmed alive, while others were being killed inside the building – one of them – is throwing a Molotov cocktail at the people trapped inside a room at the second floor, but he misses (see here, the seconds from 11:00 to 11:05). At 12:26 and 12:30 it is visible that the person who tried to torch the people in that room was wearing a bullet prof vest under his sport blouse. At 17:00 a firetruck arrives, at 18:36 the firetruck is seen in front of the building, being stopped there. At 17:46, they were still throwing Molotovs at the main entrance.

At 18:08 – just as the Right Sector were writing Nazi symbols on the wall of the building, for the next 10 seconds there can be seen what appears to be gun fire at the 5th window on the first floor. The video is here.

Here, at time code 0:43-0:47, the ”humanitarian nazis”also shout,

“- Let’s burn those motherfuckers right in the building, fucking faggots!”

Nazis killed, Nazis replace the police

“Our battalions are part of the new territorial defense. We have close contact with the intelligence services and the general staff…. Our revolution will only be completed when we have totally renewed the state,” said Dmitry Yarosh in an interview for Der Spiegel. “Renewing the state,” first by taking control of the armed forces. They mean reconquista and certainly the western governments supporting them know this too well.

The neo-nazi Parubiy is among the investigators of the Odessa massacre, and he already claimed that ”a strange substance was in that building,” insinuating this is why the fire happened, so they can officially cover up that Right Sector torched the building. But the building was torched by Right Sector who were outside and inside, during the whole massacre. On this video at 6:50 the rooms at the first level of the building are already burning – they were torched by Molotovs thrown either from inside – by the Right Sector, or from outside, through the window. At 6:58 it’s clearly seen that the rooms at the second floor, third floor and forth floor are also burning. Inside the building can be heard explosion, gun fire, and other sounds which indicate there are people attacking others inside the building.

The Neo-nazis used the Odessa massacre to deploy the National Guard (Right Sector) after they had the chief of police play by their music and then got rid of him. Basically, their own forces are making the law in Odessa now, and they replicate this in the entire east. Right Sector is recruiting publicly- their people are paid by business owners – like the ones recorded here. They use “the Russia-scare” to justify the colonization of the power positions in the country. The “self defense armed groups” – the street army during the EuroMaidan – will probably be officially dismantled, but that is because they already have been incorporated into the new police and army forces. Yarosh, however, announced he would keep his own armed group.

[The Right Sector are already evicting the official police, so they can replace them – see here how they collect the data of police agents and probably will use it to purge them. This colonization started 2 days before they took power back in February, if not sooner. In an interview for Time, Yarosh has said he was negotiating separately with Yanukovych’s forces, including his police. This documentary, in Russian, shows the terror his thugs from Right Sector (National Guard) inflict upon the civilian population in the east – locals there call them locusts because all they leave behind is death, destruction and terror. (see here) When 17,000 police from the former regime quit en mass in the east of the country, the new Kyiv government was in shock, and called them “traitors.” But maybe they had good reasons to do it, especially after Odessa.

“But taking part in the democratic process is not part of Yarosh’s strategy. “We are not politicians,” he says in his office, a pack of Lucky Strikes and a walkie-talkie on the table in front of him, while a sentry in a black ski mask and bulletproof vest stands by the door. “We are soldiers of the national revolution.” His entire adult life has been spent waiting for such a revolution to “steer the country in a new direction, one that would make it truly strong, not dependent on either the West or the East.”” Source

This must be repeated: it’s tragic that historians don’t know at least this about how nazis have always worked: they don’t care to be “democratically representative,” they want power by all means. In fact, colonizing police was also how Fuhrer-wannabe-Bandera worked during World War II.

As this 2010 Harvard University (56) study shows (find it here or here or here Katchanovski, see also the notes at the end of the blog): “Historical studies show that many representatives of the OUN and a significant proportion of the UPA members were involved in the Nazi genocide. [… ]The OUN-B and the OUN-M established local police and administration in many regions of Ukraine, particularly in the West, following the German occupation of Ukraine in 1941. […] The local police helped to implement the Nazi genocides of Jews, Ukrainians, Russians, Byelorussians, and Poles by assisting in mass executions. […] A large part of the auxiliary police in Volhynia abandoned their positions on the orders of the OUN-B and helped to create the UPA in the spring of 1943. […] Many top commanders of the UPA were former police commanders in Nazi occupied Ukraine. […]”

After the massacre, the government deployed more of their Nazi Right Sector (a.k.a. National Guard) troops to Odessa. A parallel process is happening with Ukraine’s army: on May 6, the army commander was sacked and replaced with one of their own, and “defense battalions” formed “by volunteers” are created by the Nazi bosses to sideline the army too, first in the industrial east (Donetsk,Lugansk, Dnipropetrovsk). In Odessa too, they do the same: “We are establishing a special army unit of 400 people. Their task would be to quickly restore law and order in the region. The salary is small but we will pay extra from the ‘Patriot’ fund,” Odessa’s former governor was quoted as saying. Para-statal force, just confirmed. No law needed for the law enforcers.

Svoboda politician: “I’d shoot them all”.

The former governor of Odessa was fired after he said Yulia’s Tymoshenko’s lieutenant in Odessa was involved. Igor Palitsa was appointed new governor of Odessa, and said that he is convinced “the enemy is within.” Tymoshenko  later blamed Russia for the massacre (not many remember that Putin was incredibly pissed off when she was jailed for the 2009 Gazprom deal). She lied that in the clashes between “ultras” “7 people were killed, who stood up for the unity of Ukraine, against war, against the occupation.” But 3 anti-Kyiv protestors were also killed by red armband “ultras” who being organized by high police officials from Kyiv. Andriy Parubiy, boss over security and defense forces in Ukraine, openly blamed Russia too – just because he says so (not many want to see that he himself should be investigated his visit to Odessa’s Right Sector just 3 days prior to the massacre). Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Oleh Makhnitsky said, “The action (in Odessa) was not prepared at some internal level, it was a well-planned and coordinated action in which some authorities’ representatives have taken part.” He probably means Russia, but the officials from Kyiv, whose involvement is filmed are working for Russia? The United States’ ambassador in Kyiv however said there is no proof Russia was involved.

Hours after the massacre, in a press conference with Germany’s Angela Merkel, U.S.’s Obama announced that, “The Ukrainian government had the right and responsibility to uphold law and order within its territory.” This statement means that the government in Kyiv was involved in the massacre.

Yulia Timoshenko thanked the Nazi killers: “I want to say big thanks to all who came and fight in Odessa for our Ukraine.” But they said “the ultras” were in Odessa for a football game, not for any fight so where is this coming from? She continues, “Also I want to tell that all military action that will be released in nearest future will be against any mass meeting of people.” These are exactly the European values people protested for in Kyiv. The nazis “protected an administrative building,” Yulia Tymoshenko said. Indeed, Nazis always “protect” trade union buildings by setting them on fire.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk tried to play human, but failed: “This is not a tragedy only for Odessa. This is a tragedy for all Ukraine.” The un-elected Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk implied that Russia was to blame, but also blamed local police for their “inability to maintain order.” Earlier he blamed the secret services of Ukraine. While attempting to sound human, he covered up the crimes actually. The use of the word “tragedy” implies there was no intent, no killers.

At least 46 people (officially admitted) did not just “die,” they were murdered, that means that other people caused their death. Most died by gun shots, others were beaten to death, at least another woman was seen being taken away alive by Nazis, her screams were heard, other women can be heard screaming, too. It was not “a fire” – like the government and media later said – the building did not simply “catch fire”, a fire did not simply “break out” (there was no invisible hand at work at Kulikovo). The building, with people intentionally trapped in it, was set on fire, and this was not meant to be stopped or prevented by the police. The police did help both sides during the clashes between “ultras” and “separatists.” But it was not this that enraged the minister of interior, but the fact that the local police from Odessa let the survivors go – they were arrested en mass after they were taken from the building. The police let them go after their families from Odessa stormed the police station and set them free.

Svoboda’s Irena Farion expressed her joy at the burning building: ”Devils should burn in hell. Football fans make the best rebels. Bravo!” She later said they should all be killed. Odessa was not tough enough. In Donetsk, she says, they must go to the end:

“We need to get tougher. Excuse me, but I’d simply shoot them all. Listen, the enemy (Donetsk, eastern Ukraine) is on our land. What are we talking about? We should have driven the enemy out of Ukraine as early as in 1654. Today’s reaction is absolutely legitimate. We need stronger measures against them. Our people died. That’s why these alien creatures, who have come to Ukraine, deserve only one thing: they should all be killed.”

Of course, Svoboda and Right Sector do not even hide their beliefs in Lebensraum and “national purity,” but we must never call them Neo-fascists and Neo-nazi, because, you see, the western intelligentsia might have trouble whitewashing them.

Giant middle finger for the war machine

A giant middle finger to the “peace” community in the West, these apologists of the war machine, and especially liberals and elements of the First-World Left who are always the last to see that their purist intellectual detachment is always – always – suspiciously close to empire’s agenda, who watch (and cheerlead!) while the U.S. and its proxies slaughter innocents and thwart the will of the people from Afghanistan to Zaporizhia, a city in southeastern Ukraine.

The United Nations has exposed itself as an eager and unabashed tool of western supremacy and apologist for the crimes of empire. It will be discarded along with the other detritus of the old world as Unjust, UNequal and UNwilling to break the yoke of the western paradigm. I think the organization is much worse than useless. I actually think this conflict in Ukraine is the death knell for the UN, along with the IMF/EU/NATO and all the other western organizations which act in concert to try to force billions of people to believe that 2 + 2 = 5. They are the problem, and they have no solutions. As it should be, for as Eduardo Galleano gently reminded us, “it would be strange if the remedy should come from the United States, the same place which brings us the disease.” Amid the lies and distortions of a bought-and-sold press and a government propaganda machine, we can still cut through the bullshit and see the hustlers for what they are: pitchmen of a war machine hell bent on selling us more death and destruction. We all have it within us to refuse the pitch.”

Now people understand that it is not necessary to believe in leaders. We don’t need to believe in any Yanukovich, we don’t need to believe in a Party of Regions. We need to organize ourselves BY ourselves, and to remember our own history, remember our own culture. That is our foundation.” Source

“The OUN-B tried to familiarize Ukrainian society with the fascist and authoritarian idea that the Ukrainian state should be governed and controlled by the OUN and the providnyk, whose body incorporated and symbolized the whole of Ukraine. All other Ukrainian parties and political organizations were perceived as “opportunistic” or obstructive, and were to be opposed and eventually eliminated. The whole of society would be militarized and kept “combat-ready.” The ethnic minorities of Ukraine were treated as potential enemies of the Ukrainian state, especially the Jews in which the OUN-B saw the “hand of the Muscovite-Bolshevik regime.” (42)

It’s not as if the West is not responsible for the anti-Semitic outbursts in Ukraine. After the 2004 Orange revolution, which saw former president Yushchenko using the resurrection of Nazi allies to boost his political career, and shortly after his “humiliating defeat in the first round of elections” (41) he resurrected Stepan Bandera, the “providnyk” (equivalent to the German “Führer” or the Italian “duce”) of the OUN-B (which separated themselves from the OUN because they wanted to follow Nazi Germany):  “The red and black flag symbolizing blood and earth (Blut und Boden) was introduced as the emblem of the OUN-B. It resonated with the racist and nationalistic German ideology that suggested the inseparability of a people and their homeland as well as a natural attraction to “the soil” which took on spiritual and mythological connotations. The OUN-B tried to familiarize Ukrainian society with the fascist and authoritarian idea that the Ukrainian state should be governed and controlled by the OUN and the providnyk, whose body incorporated and symbolized the whole of Ukraine. All other Ukrainian parties and political organizations were perceived as “opportunistic” or obstructive, and were to be opposed and eventually eliminated. ** Excerpt from the study : “Terrorists or National Heroes? Politics of the OUN and the UPA in Ukraine” by Ivan Katchanovski, Ph.D., Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, Harvard University:

“A large part of the auxiliary police in Volhynia abandoned their positions on the orders of the OUN-B and helped to create the UPA in the spring of 1943. The former policemen, who joined the UPA on OUN-B orders, along with former members of auxiliary police units controlled by the OUN-M and by Taras Borovets and incorporated into the UPA, constituted about half of all UPA members in the fall of 1943 (Estimated from Vovk). Many top commanders of the UPA were former police commanders in Nazi occupied Ukraine. For example, Mykola Kovtoniuk (Yakymchuk), the commandant of the Lutsk city police in 1941, an OUN-B leader in the Volyn Region, became the first commander of the “Turiv” Military District of the UPA. (See Sprava 1, Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk druhyi 117). Stepan Yanishevsky, a deputy commander of the police in Vinnytsia in 1941-1943, was the acting head of the “Zahrava” Military District in 1944. These two districts, which covered most of Volhynia, were the most important formations in the UPA-North. Omelian Hrabets, the head of the regional police in Rivne in 1941 and the leader of the OUN-B in the Rivne Region in 1941-1942, was the commander of the UPA-South in 1943-1944. (See Kentii, Zbroinyi chyn 237; Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk 74, 136).

Local Ukrainian police commanders and members assisted Nazi executioners in implementing the Nazi genocidal policy by rounding Jews and guarding them during mass executions, catching escapees, and guarding Jewish ghettos. For example, senior police commanders and police members, a large proportion of whom later joined the UPA on the order of the OUN-B, served in these capacities in the biggest cities and many small towns of the Volyn Region when mass executions of Jews took place (See Antoniuk 19, 25-26, 34). Estimated numbers of Jews who were executed or killed by other means in these locations from the end of June 1941 to spring 1943 are as follows: 20 thousand in Volodymyr Volynsk, 15 thousand in Lutsk, 15 thousand in Kovel, 3 thousands in Matsiiv, 3 thousands in Torchyn, and 800 in Kolky (Spector 362-364). For instance, Soviet postwar trials of Ukrainian policemen from Schutzmannschaft Battalion 103, which was based in Matsiiv (now Lukiv), and which joined the UPA in spring 1943, reveal that this police unit participated in mass executions of Jews in Matsiiv, Volodymyr Volynsk, and several other towns in the Volyn Region (See Antoniuk 25; Nakonechnyi 13).

The police from these Volhynian towns before defecting to the UPA participated in mass executions in other locations although its specific units are not yet identified in many cases. For example, the police from Lutsk assisted in the Nazi executions of some 4 thousands Jews in Sofiivka in summer and fall of 1942 (Cybulski 67, Nakonechnyi 2003). A significant part of the regional and district police based in Lutsk joined the UPA in spring 1943 (Antoniuk 25-26). In addition, the UPA killed on its own at least a thousand of Jews, who survived the Nazi genocide11 (Himka).

Similarly, the local police was used in guarding and catching Soviet POWs, most of whom were Russians and Ukrainians. For example, the archival police records show that the police in Lutsk under command of Mykola Kovtoniuk (Yakymchuk) and other local OUN-B leaders during summer 1941 handed over Soviet POWs, including Ukrainians, to the German police (Sprava 1). Soviet estimates of the number of Soviet POWs, who perished as a result of the Nazi genocidal policy in POW camps located in these towns in the Volyn Region, are as follows: 25 thousand in Volodymyr Volynsk, 12 thousand in Kovel, and 11 thousand in Lutsk (Dovidnyk 209).

Police from Ratno assisted in mass murder of close to 3000 Ukrainians in the village of Kortelisy and several neighboring villages in the Volyn Region in September 1942 (Olkhovsky). In April 1943, the Ratno police joined the UPA (Antoniuk 25). Similarly, the auxiliary police from Tsuman, most of which later joined the UPA, helped to carry out mass executions of more than 130 residents of the Ukrainian village of Klubochyn and about 50 people in the Polish settlement of Oborky in November 1942 (Sprava 4).

Even though this question has not yet been addressed by specific studies, there is a strong likelihood that the Schutzmannschaft Battalion 201 was involved in implementation of the Nazi genocides of the Jews and the Byelorussians during the war (See Rudling, “The Shukhevych Cult”). Such police units participated in mass executions of Jews and Byelorussians (See Dean; Nakonechnyi; Rudling, “The Shukhevych Cult,” “The Khatyn‟ Massacre”). Many top commanders of the UPA came from this police battalion. For example, the former officers of the Schutzmannschaft Battalion 201 included: Roman Shukhevych, the Supreme commander of the UPA from 1943 to 1950; Oleksander Lutsky, the organizer and the first Commander of the UPA-West, which was based mainly in Galicia, and Vasyl Sydor, the Commander of UPA-West in 1944-1949 (Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk).

Many nationalist politicians and historians in Ukraine cite anecdotal accounts of arrests and killings of OUN and UPA leaders by Germans, October 1942 as the date of creation of the UPA, and individual clashes between UPA and German forces as evidence of anti-Nazi activities. However, the analysis of 118 biographies of OUN-B and UPA leaders in Ukraine during World War II shows that at least 46% of them served in top positions in the regional and local police and administration, the Nachtigall and Roland Battalions, the SS Galicia Division, or studied in German-sponsored military and intelligence schools, primarily, in the beginning of World War II. At least 23% of the OUN-B and UPA leaders in Ukraine were in the auxiliary police, Schutzmannschaft Battalion 201, and other police formations, 18% in military and intelligence schools in Germany and Nazi-occupied Poland, 11% in the Nachtigall and Roland Battalions, 8% in the regional and local administration in Ukraine during the Nazi occupation, and 1% in the SS Galicia Division. (Calculated from Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk, with use of other biographical sources). The percentage of Nazi collaborators among the OUN-B and UPA leadership is likely to be higher than this estimate since in many cases information concerning their activities in occupied Ukraine and Poland in the beginning of the war is not available.

At the same time, at least 27% of the wartime OUN-B and UPA leaders in Ukraine were arrested or interned at various times by the German security forces, police and other occupational authorities. However, it is striking that all of them, with the exception of Ivan Klymiv, were either released relatively soon or were able to escape, some more than once. (Calculated from Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk, with use of other biographical sources). Similarly, Stepan Bandera and the absolute majority of other top leaders of the OUN who were arrested or detained by the Nazis, were not murdered, but were released by the Nazi authorities by the end of the war, in contrast to the majority of Jewish prisoners and Soviet POWs.

President Yushchenko officially commemorated October 1942 as the date of creation of the UPA in order to emphasize its anti-Nazi activity. For example, he personally visited in October 2009 the town of Kolky in the Volyn Region to commemorate the said UPA anniversary and proclaim UPA members, who created the “Kolky Republic,” as national heroes because, according to him and nationalist historians, they liberated a significant part of the Volyn Region from the Nazis in Spring 1943.12 However, historical studies and archival documents show that the Ukrainian Insurgent Army was created by the OUN-B in Volhynia not in October 1942, but in Spring 1943 after the turn of the war, which was brought about by a defeat of the German Army and its allies in the battle of Stalingrad, and after Soviet partisan units moved to Volhynia from Eastern Ukraine (Orhanizatsia). Even though Galicia was the main stronghold of the OUN-B, the formation of the UPA in Galicia begun only in the end of 1943, and it was fully organized only by spring and summer of 1944 shortly before this region came under Soviet control.

Although two small armed units existed in Volhynia since the end of 1942, they were organized by OUN commanders who served in the local police, and their first attack against German forces dates to February of 1943 (Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk druhyi 38-39, 76-76). Many of the anti-German attacks attributed to the UPA coincided with the defection of the Ukrainian auxiliary police in Volhynia in March-April 1943. Many locations in Volhynia, in particular, an area around a town of Kolky, came under control of the UPA as a result of the defection of 4-5 thousand out of about 12 thousand Ukrainian policemen in the region. German police forces in Volhynia numbered at that time only about 1.5 thousand (See Motyka 193, 197). Kolky was seized by UPA units without any fight after most of the Kolky police, which participated in mass killings of the local Jewish population, deserted to the UPA, and a small contingent of German gendarmes abandoned the town (Sprava 12). These UPA units were led by Mykola Kovtoniuk and Stepan Koval, who were the former police commanders in Lutsk and became organizers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in the Volyn Region after most of Lutsk policemen on their orders deserted to the UPA in March of 1943 (Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk druhyi 42-43). Archival police records implicate police units under their command in participation in the Nazi genocidal policy of annihilation of Jews and Slavs among the local population and POWs. (Sprava 1, Sprava 7).

The UPA carried a certain number of military actions against German police and military forces, their allies, and Polish and other collaborators. However, reliable estimates of German casualties as a result of UPA activity are lacking. Many sources imply that thousands of Germans were killed by the UPA (See, for example, Kentii, Ukrainska povstanska armiia 133). Nevertheless, casualty numbers cited for individual battles and skirmishes against German forces are often significantly inflated because the corresponding casualties of the UPA are given as being several dozen times lower. Similarly, reports concerning a killing of General Viktor Lutze by an UPA unit in Volhynia in 1943 are likely to be falsified since German sources list a car accident in Germany as a cause of his death (See Motyka 202-203).

The size of anti-German activity of the UPA and the Bandera faction of the OUN was relatively minor compared to their anti-Soviet activity. For example, at most, 6% of OUN-B and UPA leaders in Ukraine during World War II died as result of German actions. In comparison, 53% of the OUN and UPA leaders in Ukraine perished as result of actions of Soviet security and military forces and their Polish, Czechoslovak, and East German allies. In addition, 19% were arrested by the Soviet and allied governments, and they were executed, died in detention, or received long sentences. Some 12% of the OUN and UPA leaders escaped to the West, where none of them was prosecuted and some of them, such as Mykola Lebed, were used by Western intelligence services, in particular, the CIA, during the Cold War with the Soviet Union (See Breitman, Goda, Naftali, and Wolfe). (Calculated from Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk, with use of other biographical sources). The leaders of the OUN-B and the

UPA in Ukraine had several times smaller chances to perish due to German actions and policies than adult Ukrainians. (See Katchanovski, “Politics of Soviet and Nazi Genocides;” Vallin, Mesle, Adamets, and Pyrozhkov).

An analysis of 348 biographies of leaders and members of the Security Service (SB) of the OUN-B in the Volyn Region produces similar results. The SB OUN-B also served as the security service of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Only 0.3% of the SB leaders and members in the Volyn Region were killed by German forces, while 0.3% were killed by Polish forces. In comparison, 44% died or were arrested fighting with the Soviet forces, and 2% were executed by the Security Service of the OUN-B. (Calculated from Antoniuk).

Many previous studies explicitly or implicitly attribute mass murder of Poles, Jewish pogroms, and involvement in the Nazi genocide of Jews to Ukrainians or the local Ukrainian population. Ukrainians are regarded as perpetrators of the mass murder or supporters of the OUN, the UPA, and the Ukrainian auxiliary police. (See, for example, Siemaszko and Siemaszko; Spector; Piotrowski). For instance, the Public Opinion Research Center poll found in 2008 that just 5% of Poles attribute “crimes” committed in Volhynia in 1943 to the UPA and Ukrainian nationalists, while 14% blame Ukrainians, and 19% erroneously single out Russians, the Soviet Union, Stalin, and NKVD as the perpetrators.13”

“The issue of political rehabilitation and heroization of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army became one of the central political issues in Ukraine after the “Orange Revolution.” It provoked major political controversies and debates among historians in Ukraine and other countries. President Yushchenko, nationalist parties, and many Ukrainian historians attempted to recast the OUN and the UPA as a popular national liberation movement, which fought both against Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, and to present OUN and UPA leaders as national heroes. They either denied or justified by its pro-independence struggle, the involvement of the OUN and the UPA in terrorism, the Nazi genocide, and the ethnic cleansing.

However, historical studies and archival documents show that the OUN relied on terrorism and collaborated with Nazi Germany in the beginning of World War II. The OUN-B (Stepan Bandera faction) by means of its control over the UPA masterminded a campaign of ethnic cleansing of Poles in Volhynia during the war and mounted an anti-Soviet terror campaign in Western Ukraine after the war. These nationalist organizations, based mostly in Western Ukraine, primarily, in Galicia, were also involved in mass murder of Jews during World War II.

Publications produced by former leaders and members of the OUN and the UPA and their followers in the West, generally, presented these organizations as a movement for independence of Ukraine while omitting or minimizing their participation in the mass murder of Poles, Jews, and Ukrainians (See, for example, Litopys Ukrainskoi Povstanskoi Armii). Similar approaches were adopted by many historians of the OUN and the UPA in post-Soviet Ukraine. They often uncritically relied on documents or memoirs produced by OUN and UPA leaders and members, who had vested interest in presenting positive histories of their organizations. In contrast, Ukrainian, Polish, Jewish, and Russian archival documents and eyewitness accounts that offered a different perspective on the OUN and the UPA were often marginalized or used selectively. (See, for example, Litopys UPA, Serhiichuk; Ukrainska). For instance, the website of the Ukrainian National Memory Institute contains almost exclusively documents, publications, and links concerning the activities the OUN and the UPA that were primarily produced by these organizations or their contemporary supporters.7

After the “Orange Revolution” in 2004, President Viktor Yushchenko and many other nationalist politicians at the national, regional and local levels employed and promoted such uncritical historical approaches in their policy of the political rehabilitation and heroization of the OUN and the UPA. For example, Ihor Yukhnovsky, the acting Director of the Ukrainian National Memory Institute, which was created by Yushchenko‟s order with a status of a central government agency, stated that “a return Stepan Bandera‟s good name on the whole territory of Ukraine” was the main task of this government institute (See Stepan Bandera 10). The Security Service of Ukraine publicized such approaches concerning the OUN and the UPA. For instance, during Yushchenko‟s presidency, Volodymyr Viatrovych, the head of the Center for the Studies of the Liberation Movement in Lviv in Western Ukraine, became the director of the State Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The nationalist politicians and historians in Ukraine presented the OUN and the UPA as a Ukrainian national liberation movement, which started in Western Ukraine with a broad popular support and extended to many other regions of Ukraine. They argued that the OUN-B was forced to collaborate with Nazi Germany not for ideological reasons, but because it was in interest of the pro-independence struggle and that this collaboration effectively ended after the Nazi leadership refused to accept a declaration of the Ukrainian independence by OUN-B leaders in Lviv on June 30, 1941. These politicians and historians emphasized that many OUN-B leaders and ordinary members, including Stepan Bandera, were arrested, imprisoned in concentration camps, or executed by the Nazis. They presented the Ukrainian Insurgent Army as a guerrilla force which included not only ethnic Ukrainians, but also a significant number of minorities, such as Jews, Georgians, and Tatars. The UPA was depicted as a guerrilla army which fought primarily against Soviet and German police and military forces and Soviet and Polish partisans. Mass killings of Polish civilians were either ignored, or justified as retaliatory actions of UPA for the pacification policy of the Polish government before World War II and murders of Ukrainian nationalists in the Chelm region. Similarly, killings of Ukrainian civilians were either dismissed as Soviet propaganda or attributed to “false flag” operations by the Soviet security forces that

misrepresented themselves as UPA units. (See Ukrainska; Marples, Heroes and Villains, “Anti-Soviet Partisans.”)

For instance, President Yushchenko claimed that a half million of Ukrainians fought in the UPA in 1943.8 However, OUN and UPA sources put membership of the UPA at about 25-30 thousand in 1944 when it reached the greatest numerical strength (Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk 47). Its membership was much smaller before and after that time. The OUN was most active in Galicia in the 1930s and 1940s. The majority of leaders and members of two factions of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists were from this region of Western Ukraine. Although the UPA was initially established by the OUN-B in Volhynia, most of UPA leaders and members were from Galicia. For example, analysis of 118 biographies of leaders of the UPA and the OUN-B in Ukraine published in Sodol (Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk) shows that 71% of them were from Galicia, 20% from Volhynia, 1% from Bukovyna, 6% from historically Eastern Ukraine, and 2% from other countries or their place of birth was unknown. The data exclude non-OUN and non-UPA members of the Supreme Ukrainian Liberation Council, which was created in the middle of 1944 and played a ceremonial role.9

The analysis of ideology and policy of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which split into the Bandera faction (OUN-B) and the Melnyk faction (OUN-M) in 1940, primarily because of tactical and leadership differences, shows that it was a semi-totalitarian organization which combined elements of extreme nationalism and fascism (See Motyl). The OUN envisioned a creation of an independent Ukrainian state that was allied with Nazi Germany and run as a dictatorship by OUN leaders. This monoethnic state, similar in many ways to Ustashi Croatia, was supposed to include parts of modern day Russia, Poland, and Byelorussia. The OUN regarded such minorities in Ukraine as Jews, Poles, and Russians, as hostile (See Berkhoff and Carynnyk; Motyka; Rudling, “Theory and Practice”). Although its official ideology abandoned many of the extreme elements since 1943, actual policies of the OUN-B did not change to the same extent. For example, the UPA in 1943 and 1944 undertook an ethnic cleansing campaign against Poles in Volhynia.

The UPA included some units comprised from non-Ukrainians, such as Georgians, Azeries, and Uzbeks. However, these units consisted mainly from former Soviet POWs, who were recruited by Germans and then joined the UPA mostly for instrumental reasons. A very small number of Jews served in the UPA, primarily in such secondary capacities as doctors. Their presence was also motivated primarily by instrumental reasons, since they tried to escape the Nazi genocide while the UPA used them because it needed medical and other such services that could not be provided by Ukrainians. It appears that most of these minorities in the UPA deserted to the Soviet side or were killed by the UPA. (See Diukov; Himka; Motyka; Sodol, Ukrainska povstancha armiia, 1943-49. Dovidnyk).

Both the OUN and the UPA were terrorist organizations because their actions correspond to academic definitions of terrorism as use or a threat of use of violence against civilians by organizations and other non-state actors in order to intimidate and to achieve political goals (See Hoffman, 2006). The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists relied on a campaign of assassinations of Polish and Soviet officials and pro-Polish Ukrainians in the 1930s in order to advance its political goals. For example, Stepan Bandera, and other leading members of the OUN, such as Mykola Lebed Roman Shukhevych, organized in 1934 an assassination of Bronislaw Pieracki, the Polish Minister of Internal Affairs.

There is also evidence of the involvement of the OUN in international terrorism, but this aspect of the OUN activity still remains largely unresearched. For example, archival documents at the Roosevelt Presidential Library show that the U.S. Secret Service, the FBI, and Henry Field, a special intelligence aide to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, investigated an involvement of OUN members, leaders, and sympathizers in a possible Nazi-led plot to assassinate U.S. President Roosevelt. These documents indicate that Christian Zinsser, an agent of German security services who worked under cover of a German press attaché in Buenos Aires, recruited in the beginning of 1941 Hryhorii Matseiko with a mission to kill President Roosevelt.10 (See Henry Field Papers.) Matseiko was an OUN terrorist who assassinated Pieracki on the order of Stepan Bandera. The same archival documents and Pavel Sudoplatov, a Soviet intelligence agent who infiltrated the OUN leadership in the middle of the 1930s, both independently refer to assistance provided by the OUN to Croatian Ustashi in the assassination of the King of Yugoslavia and the French Foreign Minister in France in 1934 (See Henry Field Papers; Sudoplatov 26)…

The UPA mounted an anti-Soviet terror campaign in Western Ukraine. KGB data put Soviet casualties of the OUN-UPA in 1944-1953 at 22 thousand civilians, compared to about 8 thousand members of military, security, police, and paramilitary forces. Most of the civilian casualties were pro-Soviet local Ukrainians, Soviet and Communist Party officials, and intelligentsia, many of whom came from historically Eastern Ukraine. (See Politychnyi 771).

“Historical studies show that many representatives of the OUN and a significant proportion of the UPA members were involved in the Nazi genocide. The Nazi genocidal policy was responsible for deaths of most of about 7 million people, including 1.5 million Jews, who perished in Ukraine during World War II (Brandon and Lower; Katchanovski, “Politics of Soviet and Nazi Genocides;” Vallin, Mesle, Adamets, and Pyrozhkov). In Volhynia, Jews accounted for more than 200,000 out of the estimated 400-500 thousands victims among the local population and Soviet POWs. (See Hrytsiuk). The OUN-B and the OUN-M established local police and administration in many regions of Ukraine, particularly in the West, following the German occupation of Ukraine in 1941. Although the police was reorganized by the German authorities into auxiliary police in the fall of 1941 and a significant number of OUN commanders and members were removed from the police and even arrested, the OUN continued to maintain substantial presence and informal control over many units of the auxiliary police, especially, in Volhynia and Galicia. The local police helped to implement the Nazi genocides of Jews, Ukrainians, Russians, Byelorussians, and Poles by assisting in mass executions and other  policies aimed at the physical elimination of the entire Jewish population and significant parts of the Ukrainian, Russian, Byelorussian, and Polish population. After the Odessa Massacre, Nazis Colonize State Armed Forces – Behind Ukraine’s Walls Of Fire (I)

10367731_788701541142514_1064319705282282568_n (2)

A mother and her children were among the dozens butchered, shot dead, or burned alive by the Neo-nazis from Right Sector on May 2, 2014 in Odessa. The massacre preceded more horror for the industrial east. The government in Kyiv tried to hide that these three people existed. Images (see them here at time code 1:12:38- 1:12:41) forced them to admit that they were indeed in the building torched by the Neo-nazis: a boy was in the hospital; his mom and brother were among those murdered – officially 46, unofficially lots more. Odessa bears the mark of terror inflicted by the capitalist class in pursue of her criminal interests.

A large crowd of young men, looking up at a burning building, suddenly hear the agonizing screams of a woman. The horror in those screams tells them she is in mortal danger. One of them is the aggressor. They are aware of what is going on.

The screams last a minute or so, on and off. While they continue, this is what they are saying to each other:

-“That’s not a woman. She’s a separatist!

– “Beat the shit out of her. Make her shut up!

– “Yeah, women sit at home with their children. This one is an animal!

Seconds later, from the room next to the one where the woman was being murdered, two boys show up waving a flag. The crowd explodes in patriotic cheers of joy. The two boys have been taught to see themselves as “warriors.” This is their moment of glory. “Glory to Ukraine! Death to her enemies!” Here’s a piece of propaganda by Svoboda’s education minister explaining why their neo-fascist ideology is such a wonderful thing.

The enemy of these boys was a woman who was living in Ukraine, where most people speak Ukrainian and Russian, but these days, for living in the industrial East of the country – targeted by the IMF -, they became “terrorists.” For the “national revolutionaries” of Right Sector, who colonize state armed forces now, they are “occupants”.

Neo-nazi Right Sector (UNA-UNSO) are becoming state army and police.

Neo-nazis in Odessa, carrying police shields, two days after the massacre they committed inside the trade union building.

Ruling politicians in Kyiv employ a double language – one for internal use, and one for outside. At home, they are “the holy warriors” and ruthless aggressors; to the external world they play the victims of “Russian imperialism”. The internal narrative of the new government in Kyiv is built around symbols and names and certain understandings of moments in history which the West cannot see, and does not really care to look at, simply dismissing them as nationalism due to Ukraine being a former colony in the ex-USSR. But there is more to that. The massacre in Odessa was possible because the nazi killers knew they would get away with it. Heck, they even celebrated days later.

Right Sector set the trade union building on fire in Odessa, May 2, to cover up the massacre they committed inside where they butchered dozens of Odessites.

Odessa, May 2, 2014: the massacre was covered up by the government. Right Sector are supported by the Kyiv government to destroy dissenters in Eastern Ukraine.

The new president Petro Poroshenko has ordered that the rebellion in the east against the Kyiv government be done with by 14th of June. The government will enroll young men to the National Guard (Right Sector), not just the army. Military service is mandatory in Ukraine. In Kyiv parents took it to the streets immediately protesting their children be enrolled in the National Guard and be deployed in eastern Ukraine – also demanding that the increase of cost of life be stopped. They promise to make a real revolution to get rid of the “junta”, this is how they call the current government of Ukraine. Other protests erupted in Kyiv when the government, which came to power using the EuroMaidan, attempted to dismantle the tents a few hundred people have kept there – the new EuroMaidan government used violence against them, but failed.

Right Sector incorporated into a para-statal National Guard, sent to occupy industrial cities in eastern Ukraine. They are shelling schools, hospitals, and homes.  It is not known how many civilians they’ve murdered.

“Bandera will come and clean up the mess”, see here a compilation of the Nazis marching in the cities of Ukraine- what is dismissed by their supporters in the West as “Russian propaganda.”

Right Sector and the army killed dozens of residents in Mariupol who refused to let them occupy the city. Residents forced the Kyiv forces out of the city.

Dmitry Yarosh, now Parubiy’s deputy, on the scene at EuroMaidan, pursuing the “national revolution.”

There are more groups forming Right Sector, which is actually the stage-name of UNA-UNSO, a die hard nazi organization, active in exile and in Ukraine for decades. This one was one of the oldest collaborators of Yarosh; he was killed in March in a conflict with some policemen, after the change of power in Kyiv.

Funeral of a UNA-UNSO. among the first killed at EuroMaidan in the battles with the police. All the groups forming Right Sector share the ideology of the nazi Stepan Bandera, who was whitewashed and turned into a national hero. His organisation has massacred Ukrainians (who did not submit to his ideas), Poles and Jews. Their main enemies today are Russian speaking population in the east.

EuroMaidan fighter, carrying nazi symbols on his shield.

Neocon Victoria Nuland, from the U.S. State Department, said they invested 5 billion dollars for “the democracy” in Ukraine. People she supported see the Russian population in the east as “occupants.” They are bombing civilians in their homes and shelling hospitals and schools, they execute women, children and men on the streets in the East. Miners on strike are called “Russian agents,” “Anti-oligarchs,” EuroMaidan made way for a new president – a filthy rich oligarch, 6th richest capitalist in Ukraine. Nuland plotted that “Yats” be named Prime-Minister. Yats worked for the IMF 10 years ago. He’s implementing IMF’s “free markets” now in Ukraine.

They killed in Odessa for the “purity” of their “nation” – the nazi propaganda tells them those who don’t live for “their” “ancestors” will commit “suicide.” This is their national revolution they have been preparing for many years. The boys who murdered inside the Odessa trade union building were indoctrinated by ruthless propagandists into believing that the Russian population in the East are “occupants.” EuroMaidan, which brought a coalition dominated by the fascist Svoboda to power by avoiding elections, could unite so many different people on common ground, because it started decades ago and it grew in time. The majority of the people at the EuroMaidan were and still are against the interests of the minority which came to hack it, but the most powerful weapon in the hands of this minority was a past they already controlled and used to the point in which they turned it into a reality – this is one factor which made it possible for them to paralyze any potential opposition to their agenda.

They prepared for it, trained for it, marched for it, made propaganda for it, manipulated and rewrote and cleansed history of what challenged their propaganda (one of their sickest manipulations ever is that they have turned Nestor Makhno, who was everything they are not — an anarcho-communist and an anti-capitalist revolutionary — into a nationalist to serve their fascist propaganda); they revived and used a messianic past up to the point in which history became exclusively a political ideology program; they recruited school kids and students and turned them into their soldiers. It grew in schools and universities, in the church, in the training camps, on the streets and on the stadiums.

Beyond the fact that Russian and Ukrainian chauvinism feed each other, those who came to power at the end of February in Kyiv have unleashed a stigmatization campaign, the likes of which have not been seen in Europe for a while. There are politicians in Kyiv who call for the ethnic cleansing of a part of the civilian population – because speaking Russian makes them “occupants.” There are supporters of the government who call them “bugs.” There are supporters of the government who shot them dead, butchered them and burned them alive under the eyes of the entire world, and, because the Western leaders’ mentality is quite totalitarian, the massacre of these people became “law enforcement,” or some unavoidable “tragedy.” In fact, Odessa was a massacre, planned, staged and executed with the intent to instill terror in the minds and hearts of the people living in the East. It was praised by politicians in Kyiv, who called for more killings. It’s how nazis work: they create mayhem, they terrorize so then later they can come and make “law and order” – which never apply to them.

The Kyiv government claimed they don’t know what started the fire. This photo shows them it was their supporters – Right Sector nazis and political army ultras – who set the building on fire — you can see at least 7 Molotovs being thrown at the building.

On May 2, as people were watching the Trade Union building in Odessa engulfed in flames, in the East, tanks and helicopters were invading cities and villages to quell a rebellion – get this: a legitimate rebellion – against the government in Kyiv. There is an uprising in the East against the new government in Kyiv. It broke out not because Yanukovych was ousted or because they want to split the country.

Unarmed residents of Marioupol stop with their bare hands a tank sent by the Kyiv government to invade them. Dozens were killed days later – shot on the streets by Kyiv’s “peace” messengers.

It erupted after Kyiv forcefully appointed some of the richest oligarchs in Ukraine as their local governors, and a propaganda machine has been started to stigmatize and terrorize the Russian speaking population. After the verbal violence, they deployed the tanks and bombs. Never mind the hypocrisy of the new rulers in Kyiv who forgot that Lvov indeed voted for separation from Ukraine, and that they themselves occupied public buildings to pressure their rivals in Kyiv out of power. Their behavior has helped anti-Kyiv sentiments in Crimea explode, which were speculated by Moscow’s machinations, and resulted into a controversial referendum through which Crimea broke away from Ukraine and joined Russia. Putin’s arrogant let-me-show-you-my-muscles‘ statements towards eastern Ukraine certainly helped Kyiv’s propaganda against the Russian-speaking population in the industrial East of the country. [See here, Noam Chomsky:  “Russia’s annexation of Crimea was an illegal act. One comparable example comes to mind: U.S. control of Guantanamo Bay in southeastern Cuba.”]

In the east, villagers erected barricades to stop Kyiv’s tanks from invading them.

[On May 11th, in the industrial East, they held local referendums demanding autonomy from Kyiv, and, in the east, the Kyiv government did send armed thugs and tanks to terrorize, murder and scare people off from the polling stations. Unarmed civilians defied the threat of the Kyiv government officials, who said that their military terror operation will continue, whatever people in the East do. Putin also demanded they postpone the referendum, but they kept it going. To break their resistance, the government in Kyiv also punished them and announced they would not pay people’s pensions and salaries. Because civilians voting are “terrorists” for Neo-nazis like Parubiy (see note at the end about why we call them Neo-nazis*). He said, “If [the date of the referendum] is going to be postponed or they announce the results of the referendum it does not make any difference. The anti-terrorist operation will continue.” Source]

Hundreds were killed when Kyiv’s air force bombed Donetsk where miners have been striking to demand economic autonomy.

On March 2, 2014 (one week after the power reshuffle) the Unites States cut their first slice of the prey when the new government revised their contract with Chevron so that the company enjoys absolute privileges and the ability to sell this gas to Ukraine itself with higher prices. “Ukraine has Europe’s third-largest shale gas reserves at 42 trillion cubic feet, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.”

“On March 2d, 2014 Interim president of Ukraine, Turchinov in presence of the U.S., German and Polish ambassadors in Ukraine signed a preliminary agreement with the IMF on financial help to Ukraine, according to which:

– all gas transportation systems of Ukraine upon signing of the final agreement go under the company Chevron (the U.S. company).

– Owners of Mariupol, Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk metallurgical plants must transfer 50% of their companies shares to the German Ruhr.

Donbass coal production is to be transmitted to Finnish subsidiary of the Ruhr company. Among some political demands in the signed document is an annex, according to which NATO will place on territories near Kharkov the U.S. missile defense systems, the U.S fighter aircraft for anti-missile shield!” Source: First Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Poland.

RS anti-russian propaganda

Neo-nazi Right Sector consider Russian speakers in Ukraine “occupants.” This is probably why they say they are “Europeans.” Some Europeans don’t like to be reminded the role of slavery, racism in their history, the true engines of capitalism.

On April 12, CIA’s boss John Brennan visited Kyiv in secret, which he later had to admit publicly. On April 13, the interim president of Ukraine, Olexander Turchinov, announced that a military “anti-terrorist” operation would be launched. “Anti-terrorist” is newspeak for military occupation: residents in towns, cities and villages oppose it by erecting barricades, literally stopping tanks with their bare hands. Out of some 8 million, some 1,000 have got their hands on arms. There are also Chechens in the East and Cossacks from Russia; as there are Italians, Canadians, Swedish, Germans and Americans in support of Kyiv’s armed forces.

On April 24, the Right Sector Rambo wannabe boss Dmitry Yarosh announced “he moved his HQs” to the east (in Dnepropetrovsk) so he can “keep a better eye on Russia.”

On April 29 Parubiy was in Odessa meeting Mykola, one of Right Sector’ public executioners. (see images and photos in the part II of this blog)

Parubiy and Yarosh, the bosses of the armed forces at the EuroMaidan; later came to control the armed forces of Ukraine. Both are fanatical Neo-nazis.

On April 29, the country’s interim president claimed they lost control over the east. The German foreign minister also said the civilians in the east are not controlled by anyone. “Control” means people must accept whatever will be done to them – it is also telling of the mentality of these individuals who imagine that people cannot do anything on their own unless they are put to it.

On May 1st, the IMF boss told Kyiv that if they don’t suppress the disobedient population in the industrial east, the IMF would “re-design” “its agreement” with Ukraine (blackmail): “Should the central government lose effective control over the east, the program will need to be re-designed,” the IMF threatened. The next day, on May 2nd, tanks and helicopters and the Right Sector – aka National Guard – invaded the industrial cities in the east. Almost everyday since the occupation people have been killed in the east. On May 25, as there were presidential elections, the bombing got only worse as hospitals and schools are targeted in Slaviansk.

Photo: Ukraina codziennie giną niewinni ludzie, panie Kaczynski, Tusk, Sikorski czy wam nie wstyd teraz?

Kyiv’s military have killed hundreds of civilians in the east – they call them “terrorists”. Here’s how the National Guard have opened fire on civilians in the city of Mariupol, on May 9.

The Right Sector Neo-nazis are leading the military occupation of civilians in the industrial East of Ukraine, which has been urged by the IMF. Just hours after the power reshuffle in Kyiv on February 22, UK’s foreign secretary did not even have the decency to let their new guys in Kyiv announce the IMF invasion, he rushed to urge that things get done fast (before people in Ukraine can realize what it will be done to them). Right Sector are needed because soldiers are fired if they refuse to kill civilians (they have to pass tests checking their willingness to open fire and kill civilians, see here such a test, questions 17 and 18); there are reports that some soldiers are killed when they disobey the Kyiv government. Those willing to kill women and children for the IMF are deployed in the east, but it seems there are not too many, because Right Sector is really desperate to recruit anyone willing to kill for money. Tymoshenko also announced that “all military action will be deployed in nearest future against any mass meeting of people,” – such are in fact the real European values. (In this video, she also thanked the nazi thugs who massacred people in Odessa for “fighting for Ukraine’s future.”)

On May 7, even Yatsenyuk visited the camps where their killers are trained in eastern Ukraine. The Kyiv government demanded “help” from the the United States. Already, German papers reported that U.S.’s Blackwater mercenaries have been sent in the East (Monsanto aims big in Ukraine too). This is why the U.S. state department said that killing civilians and repressing their resistance with such brutality is “proportionate and reasonable.”

They have to protect all sorts of daddy’s sons and corporations, like Chevron and Monsanto: “Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Russia saw no conflict of interest in Joe Biden working to wean Ukraine off Russian gas – which makes up about 60 percent of the country’s energy supply – while his son worked in the Ukrainian gas industry.”

Of course, the European Commission urged Ukraine to use the money they get from the EU to pay off its debt for Russia’s Gazprom. “This is support for the Ukrainian budget with a view [to enabling Ukraine] to make the necessary payments in the energy sector,” Simon O’Connor said. And, Total SA (FP) agreed to seek shale oil in Western Siberia with OAO Lukoil (LKOD), “brushing off U.S. and European sanctions against Russia over its annexation of Crimea.” On May 28, EurAsia – a trade replica of the European Union in Asia – was signed, most likely not appreciated in Washington.

[“War is the product of the capitalist system as a whole. Tomorrow’s war will not find the democracies opposing the dictatorships. Behind ideological pretexts, imperialist realities are concealed. …For many people, anti-fascism has become synonymous with chauvinism. Fascism must be fought not from the outside by imperialist war but from within by proletarian class struggle.D.Guerin’s Fascism and Big Business ]

However, Yulia Tymoshenko later said they “set up a trap for Putin” in Crimea. The same Tymoshenko who said that the 8 million ethnic Russian people in the East must be “nuked.” The same Tymoshenko who cut the gas deal to the benefits of Gazprom, EU and Russia (Putin opposed her jail sentence). The same one for whose release out of jail (where she was sentenced for the Gazprom deal), the European Unionsupported by the United States — conditioned the signing of a trade agreement with Ukraine back in December. Yanukovych – who already agreed to increase gas tariffs and cut benefits for the IMF loan – said no, and refused to let Tymoshenko escape jail. The deal failed. (So, in reality, it’s not really Ukraine who rejected the deal with EU, it was the other way around: the EU refused to sign a deal with Ukraine). Russia, on the other hand, seems to have used her “offer” for Ukraine only to help EU put more pressure on Ukraine to meet their conditions, while insisting they were not infringing Russia’s interests (EU was not concerned that Ukraine was signing trade agreements with Russia). Kyiv was trying to get itself in a better position towards Gazprom while apparently managed to cut a deal to pay for gas what the EU was paying (after Tymoshenko’s deal with Gazprom, Ukraine was paying 50% more to Gazprom than EU).  Protests erupted when Yanukovych “backed off” (as the mainstream media narrative was) from signing the deal with the EU, but “despite what he claims, it wasn’t the Kremlin that made him do that.” The more Yanukovych resisted West’s condition to release Tymoshenko, the more Putin was insisting with “his offer” of lowering gas prices “only for 2014”, “conveniently forgetting that it was Russia’s refusal to trade with Ukraine that brought the country’s economy to its knees.” Putin’s offer was also “potentially hazardous for Russia. Under that scheme, Moscow would have need(ed) to pump a lot more money into Ukraine and give it a large say in joint bodies such as the Eurasian Economic Commission, with little guarantee that Ukraine wouldn’t break away again once it recovered from its current financial crunch.” Putin was not into “charity“, especially when that meant 7 billion dollars.

After Crimea split and joined Russia, Moscow let the Kyiv government take its weaponry back, which they later deployed to massacre residents in Eastern Ukraine. Kyiv admitted only after two months that they moved their weapons from Crimea to invade the East. Source

Now, after Crimea, the Kyiv government is accusing anyone not recognizing them — “they’re legitimate” just because former Gazprom employee, authoritarian Carl Buildt says so, and Obama called them “duly elected” before any elections took place – of being “separatists,” which is a lie they use to justify sending tanks and armed thugs against them. However, the real separatists are the Western experts who demanded that Ukraine be split because it would be “just the best thing” that it could happen to her (see part II of this blog).

This is how the IMF works, they have done it before in Yugoslavia (see links at the end of the blog). Only now it will be worse, if they are not stopped. And nobody in the ruling classes in Kyiv, in the West or in Russia want to stop them. Moscow backs IMF’s “structural adjustments” and “reforms” for Ukraine (read, capitalist accumulation). Putin is not communist, he is a capitalist plutocrat, and a conservative bordering fascism, just like most of the ruling classes in the West are, too. For one simple reason: the autonomy of the working people is bad for capitalists, and it’s systematically destroyed in the United States, in the European Union, in Russia and in Ukraine, too.

Locals in the east armed themselves after Kyiv started to kill them – shooting at cars, apartments, people on the streets.

The Neo-nazis from the Right Sector are the vanguard of “an anti-terrorist” operation in the industrial East where people have been protesting the oligarchs (read, capitalist class), imposed on them by Kyiv since early March. Why is this “an anti-terrorist” campaign? Well, because these Neo-nazis call whoever does not accept them terrorists. The people in the East have every right to reject the insults and the stigmatization by the Kyiv government and their supporters. They are called “Colorado beetle,” “Moskali,” “separatists” and “terrorists” or “pro-Russian” (because they happen to speak Russian.)

When these experts say “Ukraine is a country divided between a Ukranian speaking population and a Russian speaking population” where exactly are their own values? Both populations live in the same cities, they are next door neighbors – in the west some are more, in the east others are more. Why should cultural diversity be considered “a divide”? Sadly it is, because the nationalists in the western Ukraine see it as a threat to their own legitimacy, and because: “the culture, language, and political thinking of western Ukraine have been imposed upon the rest of Ukraine. Ostensibly this is for the sake of “unifying the country,” but in fact the objective has been to put down and humiliate Ukraine’s Russian-speaking population. The radical nationalists of western Ukraine, for whom the rejection of Russia and its culture is an article of faith, intend to force the rest of the country to fit their narrow vision. Western and eastern Ukraine do not understand each other’s preoccupations, just as Cubans in Miami and Cubans in Havana would not understand each other. Ukrainian conflict is not the conflict between the “pro-Russian separatists” and “pro-Ukrainians,” but rather between two Ukrainian groups who do not share each other’s vision of an independent Ukraine. … Easterners are angry that pro-Bandera banners, posters and graffiti are popping up all over Ukraine and with the rewriting of history in general, where violent nationalists who fought alongside the Nazis are treated as heroes while Russians, who suffered under Stalin no less than the Ukrainians, are denigrated. Following the exile of President Victor Yanukovich and Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Ukrainian nationalist rhetoric has become downright offensive and hysterical, ostracizing further the people in the east.” (This is an excerpt from an article by Vladimir Golstein, a professor of Slavic studies at Brown University. He was born in Moscow and emigrated to the United States in 1979. It’s among the few worth reading published by the capitalist media in the West.)

right sector euromaidan 14 88

Notice on the back wall the nazi symbols 14/88, meaning “Hail Hitler” and white supremacy propaganda. But you are delusional, these are not nazis: it’s just “Russian propaganda,” as their apologists keep saying.

Before we go further this must be said: we use the term Neo-nazis to describe those who participate and belong to the organisations under the umbrella of Right Sector (the last link is their propaganda channel, they are UNA-UNSO rebranded and expanded). On their website they publish announcements on behalf of Yarosh, announce training camps – with the ministry of defense, too.  (see Boot training UNSD in Kiev _Ukrainian National Assembly (UNA-UNSD) / Right Sector _Ukrainian National Assembly (UNA-UNSD)  / Statement ZHOO UNSD activities on _the right sector_ in _UNA-UNSO Zhitomir  / Right Sector _Ukrainian National Assembly (UNA-UNSD)

Nazis from UNA-UNSO training with the defense ministry in Ukraine in April.

We don’t call them Neo-nazis because Russia says so, we already explained that EurAsia promotes a fascist ideology (see here, one of their magazine, and here more about its ideologue, Dugin). We call them such simply because they are, and such is the ideology they impose. They and their armed thugs are the worst enemies of the working people. We call Svoboda Neo-fascists because they mirror the ideology of EurAsia and other fascists in the West too, who are tolerated and supported by the Western governments.

First published by Les Crises who also publish lots of documented reports on the Neo-nazis in Ukraine.

In a documentary called “Neo-nazi threat in Ukraine“, BBC interviewed some of them, revealing how deep the indoctrination of these boys is:

“- National- socialism themes are popular amongst some of us. The idea of one nation. Not everyone in our organisation shares this idea, but some people do believe in it.

– What about you?

– I personally do.

– Please, explain.

– I like the idea of one nation.

– I want there to be one nation, one people, one country.

– What does that mean?

A clean nation. Not like under Hitler. But in our own way a little bit like that.

Those who like Russia – let them move to Russia.”

There are 13 ethnic minorities living in Ukraine. Here’s another one, a C14 (presented as Svoboda‘s armed group) leader, showing up a swastika carved out on a military hat, while he says he does not consider himself a nazi, but “a nationalist.” You know, “Ukraine’s only hope“- only somebody hating them deeply can mock them like that.

Cops and Right Sector having a laugh next to the building were residents of Odessa were butchered and burned alive. Women are trying to escape the fire at the 1st floor window.

It’s utterly dishonest to see authoritarian laws in Russia, or in Ukraine (like those on January 16th, and probably lots more to come), but endorse similar ones in Spain, Turkey, the United States, Germany, UK. It is utterly dishonest to say Putin is the only threat when the states in the West jail anti-fascists for defending people attacked by Nazis under the noses of the police (Joel’s case, Sweden), not to mention the political police on full display in the United States and Europe. It is not a contradiction that the West has supported Svobodabanks in the United States have demanded fascism in Europe. It is dishonest to talk about fascism and not mention capitalism- fascism is a violent ultra-reactionary phase of capitalism, meant to crush any resistance or potential resistance by the working class. It is just dishonest to pretend there are no oligarchs in Europe or in the United States, that they are just in Russia and Ukraine – it is mystifying to call them oligarchs, the correct term should be: capitalist class not interested in saving appearances.

It is not honest to pretend – like the West does – that they care about “saving Ukraine” – and use the country’s dire situation to sink her into more debts. Why does Ukraine have such huge debts in the first place? Why are these not investigated? What independence is that when the IMF is creating more poor, desperate and vulnerable proletarians by destroying the autonomy of the working people, by raising the gas prices to intolerable levels, and literally stealing food from kids? How many tanks are necessary for politicians to avoid talking about what capitalism really is? Why must people in Russia be guilty for the state capitalism imposed on them in the past centurywhen the West have joined the dictators‘ propaganda and lies about it being “communism”? Why must people in Russia be hated because they suffered under state capitalism, and then endured even more horrors from the IMF? Who created “the oligarchs” in Russia, which now has the greatest inequality in the world? Was it not the IMF by privatization (read, destroying the unions and abusively appropriating the vital resources from the majority)? These oligarchs are the same as everywhere in Eastern Europe: the former ruling class of the state capitalism, before the Iron Curtain collapsed. Private capitalism of today is an extension of the state capitalism of yesterday. “More nationalism” needed in Ukraine, they say (ignoring the massacre in Odessa)? How about no more lies. Oligarchs in Russia or Ukraine are those who in the the West are called the 1%. They are the same as Koch brothers or ALEC. Oligarchs in Russia are bad, but TPP is good? What sort of “logic” is this?

Here’s what people in Odessa, and many in the rest of the east, were saying before the massacre:

“- The situation in the country is awful. First they drove a wedge between us and our Russian brothers. As for me, I’m neither going to travel to Russia, nor to anywhere else. I want to live in Odessa. I want everything to be fine. I want us to be friends with Russia. The West is not for us, you know. What’s happening in our country is a nightmare. How will we survive? For instance, my salary is 92 dollars per month. Can I get by? Gas prices are now about to spike by 73%. The prices for medicine have already been raised by 60%. It’s terrible. Really, terrible.”

People living in the West of Ukraine certainly can say the same thing. It’s just the IMF doing their best.

Right Sector are colonizing and replacing the police and the army, to pursue their “national revolution”. Nazis could not care less about elections.

We don’t call the Right Sector (and their para-statal, semi-official, private funded National Guard avatars) Neo-nazis to smear the legitimate protests of the people in Kyiv who hoped to get rid of the social and economic grievances, even if they can’t decode them as class struggle. (To expect class conscience in Eastern Europe is showing how little the West does know about Stalinism – which was not communism). There are 46 million people in Ukraine – anyone pretending to speak their mind is lying. They are not nazis – why are they all assumed to be like some minister in their government? – the nazis are the minority who control state power.

People who took it to the streets and protested their government and battled the police had the right to do so (by the way, is that Yarosh still riding Yanukovych’s luxury limo?). They also have every right not to be fooled and lied that what is happening to them now is “freedom” or “democracy”. What is happening to them now is the result of one of the most brutal capitalist accumulations by the ruling classes. The prey is Ukraine’s resources and its working people, (Ukrainian speakers and Russian speakers), who are the real producers of the wealth, appropriated by capitalists.

The fact that the protests in Kyiv were used to bring to power whoever the ruling classes wanted is the responsibility of the ruling classes, not of the people they used and lied to. The responsibility for bringing fascist Svoboda to state power is the responsibility of the ruling classes – these are people who control economic, political, and military decisions. These ruling bastards are those who have told cosmic lies in the past months. In the industrial East of the country, people who reject the government in Kyiv and who cannot see Bandera, because they are right to consider him a Nazi, are not trying to break up the country – the largest majority of people in Ukraine want their country to stick together. There are some who openly want to break away and join Russia, inciting more violence against the local population, but they don’t enjoy a large support. If opinions are quite different towards Russia, the opposition and rejection of the government in Kyiv seems to be  quite widespread, especially among the Russian speakers, and this was clear during the referendum they held. This is not irrational – the government in Kyiv bears full responsibility for alienating the Russian speaking population in Ukraine.

U.S.’s Republican and Democrat politicians on the stage of EuroMaidan next to Svoboda’s “You’ll all kneel at the grave of Bandera soon.”

When it comes to bread and work, there is no real divide between the people who speak Russian or Ukrainian, or both. But there is a lot of hatred taught to them, so that working people in Kyiv do not protest in mass when working people in Marioupol are butchered by the new military of the Kyiv government, or when residents of Balashikha are bombed by the planes of the Kyiv government. So that those living in the West consider themselves “superior” to those living in the East – they are not. So they do not protest when a woman is killed in the Trade Union building in Odessa – just like that. So they don’t see that this woman does not even exist for those who record the history these days. So they don’t see that Odessa is slipping into the City of Shadows of the past. So they don’t see the people in Kyiv who cried for this woman and the others massacred in Odessa. So they don’t know that they cried in Moscow too. They did not cry in the offices and palaces of the civilized cruel politicians in the Western world. The scene is here, be warned that it’s traumatic, like the rest of the videos linked in this blog.

When the woman’s killer appeared at the window of the crime scene, in the Trade Union building, to savor his victory, the men cheered enthusiastically. This crime happened while riot police were present among the crowd, behaving invisible, and at the same time when firefighters were just taking somebody out of the 5-story burning building. It’s surreal. This documentary in Russian shows how the Right Sector are recruited among the criminals in prisons, rapists and even serial killers. The more terror they can inflict upon the civilian population, the better suited they are. You can translate subtitles, and see here at minute 5 how they are recruited from prisons, at 1:52 how a Right Sector raped an old woman, at 11:52 – 12:32 what happens to one of their “enemies”, how they train singing U.S. marines songs, at minute 9 a mutiny inside the Ukrainian army. Two weeks after Odessa, Right Sector and the EuroMaidan interior ministry were deeply shocked to learn that 17,000 police in the east have refused to work for them and “deserted.” We discuss below how Right Sector are colonizing the police and the army — just like their OUN-B ancestors and UPA have terrorized local populations in the past – and you can evaluate for yourself the intellectual honesty of elites claiming to be terribly disturbed that the Neo-nazis have not been whitewashed enough; this is what they say after the massacre in Odessa: “These exaggerations about the role of the far right are so over-present, and they have to be counteracted.” Funny, these people never seem concerned to counter-attack the propaganda done by the “far right” (they don’t to call them Neo-nazis to make them look more acceptable).

See below how, while people were burning and were being massacred in the Trade Union building, the nazis were leaving their signatures on the wall. But, again, you are delusional, this is Russian propaganda, as their apologists say even today.

As for historians who minimalise the Right Sector’s presence because they did poorly in presidential elections, they are twice as irresponsible: precisely because Nazis get to be hated by the local population they dominate, they will spill the blood of those who contest them, precisely because they know they will never be elected, they have other means to be in power (with the help of the state, always).

Some people are so caught up in the hatred for Putin that are willing to just ignore the massacre in Odessa, or justify it. But the more people are killed in Ukraine by their government, the more the life of every person in Ukraine is devalued. The more they slip into the civil war fatalistic mentality where killing “the other” is just what thugs like the IMF need. The real aggressors always manage to pose as saviors, when in fact they deliver death. This is why some call for more “nationalism,” so they cannot see what is being done to people like them – workers. More nationalism will make worker kill worker. Father kill father. Brother kill somebody else’s brother. Every person killed these days in Ukraine is devaluing the life of everyone else living in Ukraine. It’s the downward spiral towards the mind-set of civil war

fb right sector

This is the person who is indoctrinating the kids whom the Neo-nazis recruit to kill people for “the purity of the nation.” She is also a fanatical Neo-nazi, and she is the spokesperson of the Right Sector. Facebook removed our post about her.

Later in the evening, the woman’s killer appeared in a picture threatening a man on the ground. They still won’t look for him, because they won’t admit that he committed any murder. They won’t admit any murders happened. They call them “a tragedy.” There are many who justify the massacre at Kulikovo as “understandable” or ”unavoidable” (the gunshots he talks in the last blog linked were shot at the people inside the trade union building) – so that the aggressors can present themselves as victims. There are too many details which point to the fact that there was nothing unavoidable about it. Quite the contrary.

Screenshot from a propanda clip of the neo-nazi Right Sector, announcing a great “European Reconquista”.

The Odessa massacre happened two months after ”the promoters of the European dream” have been pushed to power in Kyiv, to “reboot the system” (capitalism) and get rid of a guy who, among other things, risked to compromise their system too much (Viktor Yanukovych is a product of capitalism). Since December, pro- and anti- Yanukovych, Russian, and EuroMaidan people demonstrated in the city: except that on April 10, 2014, Right Sector attempted to spoil the anniversary of the city’s liberation from the Nazis: violence broke out, and Right Sector barely made it out of Odessa.

The government claimed that only people from the “peaceful” Right Sector ultras were hit by unidentified red armband snipers in Odessa, 3 from the side of the anti-Kyiv protestors were also killed. Snipers were firing from behind the police lines, 3 days after Parubiy visited a battalion of Right Sector stationed in Odessa.

On May 2, snipers suddenly appeared. Snipers were a big propaganda win in Kyiv, and they are still not investigated, in spite of all legitimate questions (the person caught with weapons for snipers is Tymoshenko’s ex-prime-minister, he is a hotshot in the presidential administration in Kyiv). Snipers were a big propaganda win in other “revolutions” in Eastern Europe – those who came to power exploiting the bloodshed promised that they will be caught. They never were.

Red arm bands were those who provoked the violence at a Ultras march in Odessa, they were called “Russia’s instigators.” The police this one talks to later conveniently disappeared.

However, the civilized elites in the West ignore the Odessa massacre, or, worse, rationalize it, justify it and even endorse it. It’s hardly surprising: they know very well who are those with a past in the Neo-nazi organisation UNA-UNSO and her avatars. Andrei Parubiy, boss over defence, security and police forces, co-founder of a nazi party together with Oleh Tyanbok in 1991, coordinator of para-military nazi squads, Tetiana Chornovol (lustration, getting rid of political dissenters), Dmytro Bulatov (sports, former auto-maidan strongly supported from the United States), and many others. Dmitry Yarosh is the deputy head of the National Security Council (Parubiy’s deputy), and is colonizing the state power position in the country. Together with Parubiy they recruit “volunteers” for the army and the police. One of Parubiy’s “promises” was the creation of a 20,000 strong National Guard (Natsgvardii, which will integrate the Neo-nazi organisations from the EuroMaidan), to replace the police, the first squads were unleashed in the industrial east – “on the front” – in April.

Yarosh and the current boss of the secret service SBU training one of the group of armed fighters deployed at the EuroMaidan a year later (Trident, Yarosh was their trainer for at least for a decade). See video below; notice there are kids too at this training.

The armed “self-defence” groups are to be dismantled, but Yarosh will keep his, and anyway by then his nazis are in the police and in the army. It’s tragic to hear historians blind themselves that they are not “a majority” (the main argument to appease the criticism towards these Nazi thugs): they never were until they got into positions from where they could eliminate opponents and control everything.

They rebranded today as Right Sector, which did not appear magically out of the fog of history at the end of November in Kyiv’s Independence Square, they just stayed low until they were needed for the “national revolution.” Right Sector is just the stage name, so they can create the impression of spontaneity, which is completely false: they have been at it for many years, and certainly they have been training in public at least since 2006, and started processions carrying nazi flags and portraits of their nazi heroes for many years now. They mean it when they say they want to drive the Russian population – they call them “the occupants” – out of “their” land which they dream to take back. They start to say it publicly – posting maps of their old empire.

pravi sector una unso

That flag is UNA-UNSO‘s , a neo-nazi organization, deployed at the EuroMaidan – they are considered heroes of the revolution -, they are now colonizing the police and armed forces of Ukraine. They have been marching on the streets of Ukraine with real guns for many years now. They have been in Chechnya against Russian troops, as well as other wars.

They are split into more groups – Trident, UNA-UNSO, soccer fans, C14, Ukrainian Patriots -, but they work together and probably are financed by people the Ukrainian Congress of America would certainly know. Right Sector themselves say they trained people back in early December at EuroMaidan, Yarosh said they trained for two years – of course, he lies, they’ve been at it for many more years.

This happened while gradually, the political wing of the Neo-nazis, with support from the United States and Germany, have rehabilitated Stepan Bandera – erecting statues and marching and banning historians who told the truth about him being a nazi, and of course being supported by the media, by university professors etc. Svoboda is largely supported by university graduates, that should give a hint about how powerful the propaganda is to “denazify” (normalize Nazism) in the western Ukraine. (Both Ukrainian Congress of America and Right Sector – which have become a political party meanwhile – monitored and “guarded” elections on May 25.) Ukrainian Congress of America has met with the current prime-minister of Ukraine.

This is Dmitry Yarosh at one of their trainings, he was the boss of “Trident” group. He says that Trident is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary and that throughout these years they were constantly fighting for Ukrainian nationhood: “Without national revolution freedom is impossible.” “In Ancient Rome,” he says, “there was a senator, Marcus Porcius Cato. Whenever he held a speech, he always ended it up saying “Carthage must be destroyed.” As long as our eternal enemy – Russian Empire – exists, Ukrainian statehood is impossible to achieve.” Later he speaks on the importance of Youth fighters. “We were never afraid to speak the truth aloud and we will never relinquish it,” he sums it up:

[UNA-UNSO supported the fascist dictator from Chile, Pinochet, it’s not really surprising the United States backed them and still do: there are at least 35 countries from A to Z, where the United States has supported fascists, drug lords and terrorists.

“In Washington, the OUN-B reconstituted under the banner of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), an umbrella organization comprised of “complete OUN-B fronts,” according to Bellant. By the mid-1980’s, the Reagan administration was honeycombed with UCCA members, with the group’s chairman Lev Dobriansky, serving as ambassador to the Bahamas, and his daughter, Paula, sitting on the National Security Council. Reagan personally welcomed Stetsko, the Banderist leader who oversaw the massacre of 7000 Jews in Lviv, into the White House in 1983.“Your struggle is our struggle,” Reagan told the former Nazi collaborator. “Your dream is our dream.” Source]

The people inside the trade union building were shot and clubbed to death before and during the burning of the building set on fire by the Right Sector, to cover up the massacre they committed intentionally.

The Odessa massacre is ignored because the United States and European Union fake humanity, only if they can exploit it to benefit their propaganda or imperialism. When they can be damaging – because they reveal the reality –  they get some damnatio memoriae. Even today, Western politicians visit the place in Kyiv where people were killed in February, but they deny the truth about who really killed them. They fake human feelings, while they sadistically brought the IMF in Ukraine to steal the food from children’s mouths and the books from their hands, and impoverish even more the working classes in Ukraine. Because – don’t laugh – the most corrupt and criminal institution in the world has descended to Kyiv “to fight corruption” – that is, to create even more oligarchs (capitalist class). Is this what people were killed for in Kyiv? So that the IMF can pursue their capitalist accumulation, called “structural adjustment” or “reform” – or whatever wooden language they use – while they pretend to save Ukraine from debts by creating more debts? Putin, is a capitalist, Russia backs the IMF, and the Kremlin has no problem with Biden’s son getting a new toy in Ukraine. It’s just stuff the ruling classes do.

* The use of this term has been turned into a political ping-pong, zero sum-game propaganda between the Western media and the Russian media, in a fight to control the narrative over Ukraine. The UNA-UNSO, from which key rulers in the Kyiv state power have sprung, is a die hard Neo-nazi organisation. Of course, they call themselves ”nationalists,” but they could call themselves martians too, the ideology they promote is still nazism. There is an army of academia, historians, and journalists who are very concerned with hiding who these people are and what they stand for, and what they are used for – to prevent working class resistance to capitalism – for reasons only they can know and understand. There are some who keep saying that we should not call them nazis because this helps Russia, but at the same time they don’t explain why the Russians called them so, because that would be self-defeating. The fact that RT, the most watched Russian media in the western world, called them nazi at some point, has to do with the historical understanding of the meaning of this word in the collective memory of the Russians. It’s the same as it was during the World War II. Hitler planned to make them slaves because they considered them “an inferior race.” (Europe’s history is no stranger to the fact that the word ”slave” could be traced back to slav.) The Russians are not guilty for remembering what the nazis did to them, unlike the neo-nazis in Ukraine and their supporters in the United States who whitewashed them to such a degree that a nazi mass murderer, fuhrer wannabe has been turned into ”a national hero” and nazi symbols have been turned into public shrines. We’ll discuss in upcoming blogs why this understanding of the word Nazism in Russia does not exclude anti-Semitism, which is rampant in Ukraine and Russia (as well as in the rest of Eastern Europe and quite widespread in Western Europe too), under all sorts of disguised forms, and why Putin’s EurAsia project basically promotes the same fascism as Svoboda’s and other far right parties in Europe. However, neo-Nazi Right Sector traces its roots to the hard-core Nazism and, together with Svoboda and other organizations they are one big family. Just because Svoboda has an office in Brussels and just because U.S.’s neocon Nuland, German officials and former Gazprom employee Carl Buildt love them, it does not change who they are: it just sheds more light on what capitalist elites (whatever political color they wear) really are.

How the IMF Dismantled Yugoslavia: ”But what happened to Yugoslavia — and now continues in its weak successor states — should resonate beyond the Balkans. Yugoslavia is a mirror for similar economic restructuring programs in not only the developing world but also in the US, Canada and Western Europe. The Yugoslav reforms are the cruel reflection of a destructive economic model pushed to the extreme.”

Yugoslavia: Imperialist war against the world proletariat, 1990s – ICG: ”The reality of the war, the sinister development of bombardments, of massacres, of persecutions, of internments, show clearly that this war is a war against the proletariat, against its interests and against its movement of struggle… Consequences:

– Indiscriminate massacres of proletarians, as is shown, for example, by the discovery of mass graves where the bodies of “Serbs”, “Croats”, “Bosnians”… are mixed together.

– The material disarmament of proletarians who refuse to fight on the fronts of this war which they recognise as not being theirs and which they flee from… The always sovereign HCR rejected the request of a Serb deserter who affirmed his “refusal to fight the Croats who are compatriots”. In disarming the trouble-makers, in sending them back to “their” country, the bourgeoisie delivers them tied hand and foot, like peaceful and inoffensive lambs, to their executioners. … ”As long as we remain passive consumers and spectators of our miserable lives, as long as we remain “useful idiots” for Capital, anything can be done to us and we should not be surprised if tomorrow good citizens start to kill each other for one reason or another!! Neighbour against neighbour, workmate against workmate, proletarian against proletarian.”

The IMF in Yugoslavia: “Milosevic was an economic liberal (and political conservative). He was director of a major Belgrade bank in 1978-82 and an economic reformer even as Belgrade party boss in 1984-86. The policy proposals commissioned by the ‘Milosevic Commission’ in May 1988 were written by liberal economists and could have been a leaf straight out of the IMF book.” ”They were fully aware of their disastrous social consequences and increasingly sought to divert the struggles of the working class which these measures produced into bloody nationalist conflicts.

WHY IS THE U.S. BOMBING YUGOSLAVIA?: ”The working class movement brought together Yugoslavs of every ethnic background. The movement was at least implicitly revolutionary, and it terrified the international elite, for if successful it might easily spread beyond Yugoslavia and spell the end of the smoothly-managed transition from Communist to capitalist forms of elite rule in Eastern Europe. As the elite are aware, successful revolution and true democracy anywhere could well lead to revolution everywhere. As the working class movement grew, the Yugoslav ruling elite increasingly faced a stark choice: either smash the growing movement or go under. Rather than lose their grip on power, they decided to dismember the working class movement by dismembering the country. The dissolution of the former Yugoslavia in 1991 and the ethnic fighting and atrocities are parts of a carefully orchestrated elite strategy to divide and destroy the working class movement.”

The Empire’s new clothes: ”Milosevic once “a man we can do business with” (19), in the words of Richard Holbrooke, the U.S. envoy to the Bosnian peace talks in 1995, became, after the Serbian government refusal to go long with N.A.T.O. , the “new Hitler”.”

Morality or Western Interests: NATO in Yugoslavia: “…To encourage the transition toward a so-called free market economy, but ultimately, in practice; what that meant was the dismantling of the system of self-managed enterprises. … In other words, it’s a country that had been literally impoverished as the result of macroeconomic reforms. At the same time, that has created conditions that fueled ethnic conflicts. Yugoslavia has been subjected to very major macroeconomic reforms going back to the 1980s, but the climax was reached in 1990, under the pro-US government of Prime Minister Ante Markovic, where the IMF-sponsored reform was implemented. And it virtually contributed to fracturing the Yugoslav Federation.”

A Fool’s Account: Diana Johnstone, Yugoslavia and Her Delusion: ”The aggressive “liberalization” policies of the West, however, were merely half of the equation. The internal fragmentation of the country along nationalist lines, while to a certain key extent sponsored and exacerbated by the West, was a largely independent phenomenon and a function of the internal dynamics of the Yugoslav space that had its roots in the late 19th century.”

Residents in Mariupol burned down a tank when they chased away the Right Sector and the Kyiv army. They wrote on it: “This is for Odessa, you bastards”. It is not known how many people the new government in Kyiv has murdered since they confiscated power on 22 February, 2014.
